Prominent Muslims bared their minds as they gathered at the Regal Hall, Oluodo, off Igbogbo / Ipakodo road, Igbogbo, Lagos State, on Sunday, 3rd of June, 2018, to offer Justice to Islamic Perspective on Terrorism and also Governance and Leadership Style of Prophet Muhammad.
The event which was organized by the Anwar-ul Islam Movement of Nigeria, Men and Ladies' Guilds, Ikorodu Mission, with prominent Muslim personalities in attendance, among who are guest speakers, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Lagos State and Alhaji Salisu Fatiu Jimoh, Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA. Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Hon. Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Lagos State, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, Chairman Men's Guild and Lagos East Senatorial Aspirant, Alhaja Jemilat Agbaje, President, Ladies Guild, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Afolabi Mukaila, Chairman, Ramadan Committee, Alhaji Prince Adegboyega Oluwole, Alhaji Musibaudeen Alejo, Aremo Adeniyi Ogunsanya, Alhaja Shukurat Dupe Sanni, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo, Hon. Ameen Ibrahim, Hon. Akeem Balogun, Alhaja Basirat Majolagbe, Alhaji Y.O. Aregbesola, among other prominent personalities were in attendance.
Delivering a lecture shortly after the prayers, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, beseeched Allah to intervene in the killing in Nigeria and mental disorder of some people, adding that Muslims are not terrorists as being misconstrued by some enemies of Islam. He called on Muslims to unite especially those in leadership positions to fight the scourge of ignorance, unemployment, poverty, disease, hunger, mis-governance, corruption, tribalism, among other vices in the society. "We’re not terrorists", he claimed.
"This is also to show the world that we are Muslims, we are not terrorists, we are not arsonists. We have a duty to call on Allah, Islam is a religion of peace, and praying to Allah for peace is our contribution towards attaining peace and tranquility in Nigeria.” Dr. Abdul Lateef explained. He further stretched the needs to take proper care of our parents as mandated by Allah.
Alhaji Salisu Fatiu Jimoh, in his own lecture urged the people at the helms of affairs to imbibe the leadership style of Prophet Mohammed, have the fear of Allah and ensure policies that will better the lives of citizenry.
“We are on the verge of another election and acrimony is already manifesting, issues here and there. It is only Allah that can intervene on behalf of the downtrodden and marginalised.” He said.
The lecture was thereafter put to close after the bursary award presentations, goodwill messages and vote of thanks from Alhaji Afolabi Mukaila.
