The ancient town of Igbogbo in Lagos State was agog with excitement on Saturday October 20, as various dignitaries from across the world thronged the town to celebrate with their monarch, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, HRM, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, who celebrated his golden 50th Birthday anniversary.

The exquisite King’s house, venue of the celebration was enlivened as encomiums poured in from various quarters on the achievements of Oba Kasali since he ascended the throne as the traditional ruler of the land.

The widely-exposed monarch who was dressed in white and ably supported by his adorable wives, Olori Sekinat and Olori Kafayat, was full of life as royal fathers, politicians, business gurus and other notable people, who gathered to celebrate him, unanimously described him as an icon worthy to be emulated and celebrated.

Leading the encomium was Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, who congratulated the monarch on the celebration and for the great role he has been playing in the development of Igbogboland and Lagos State in general.

The Opomulero of Ikorodu Kingdom and Majority leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, also appreciated the monarch and enjoined him to continue to lead his people right. Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka of Ikorodu Constituency 2, also praised the monarch for rallying the necessary support of well-meaning persons to help improve the infrastructure in his domain.

Former Acting Commissioner and member of the Seventh Assembly, who is also the Oluomo of Igbogbo land, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, spoke glowingly of Oba Kasali. Speaking with MegaXpression Magazine, she described the monarch as a man full of passion and keen for the well being of his people, pledged her continued support for the Igbogbo and the entire Igbogboland.

The high point of the celebration was when a special prayer was conducted by league of Imams to HRM Oba Kasali, wives, families and the entire Igbogbo kingdom. This was followed by the cutting of birthday cakes.

The celebration was witnessed by the dignitaries present including the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, Adeboruwa-in-Council led by High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo, Ayangberen-in-Council, the head and members of Ijaolu ruling house, Olu-odo family, Oke-Ira family, and other villages under the lordship of Adeboruwa, Market association, amongst others were in attendance.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
