IKORODU CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY PAYS HOMAGE TO ROYAL HEADS, SETS TO UNVEIL NEW EXCO ON NOVEMBER 8TH. | Shakiru Seidu. Igbogbo, Ipakodo monarchs pledge unflinching supports, call for upliftment of small scale industries.

Members of the Executive Committee of Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry was again visited the Palace of His Royal Majesties, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo. The meetings were held separately and witnessed the presence of the Palace Chiefs.

MegaXpression Magazine gathered that the Chamber which was incorporated in 2011, was aimed at chatting a way forward towards addressing germane issues that could empower Ikorodu Division to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the private sector and the economy of the Division as well as that of Lagos State and the nation in general.

Speaking at Adeboruwa Palace, Igbogbo, the President of the Chamber, Engr. H.O.B. Lawal, seek for Royal blessings for the new Executive, and assured the monarch of quality service delivery. "Kabiyesi, we are here today to pay you homage in your capacity as the traditional Ruler of Igbogbo land, where a good number of ICCI members reside particularly where the President of ICCI, Engr H.O.B Lawal has been residing and working for the past 43 years." He said.

He further applauded Oba Kasali's generosity and unflinching support towards the Chamber's growth and development as well as his prompt attention to matters concerning the Chamber over the years. Engr Lawal also commended the landmark achievements and giant strides that the monarch has taken since ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

"Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry was incorporated in 2011 and has since then represented the interest of the business community in Ikorodu Division as well as liaising with Government and the private sector operators within and outside Lagos and Nigeria with a view to promoting, attracting and increasing trade and industrialisation, among other things in Ikorodu Division.

"Our business Luncheon is held quarterly to stimulate discussions on the challenges facing investors particularly the small and medium scale enterprises as well as proffer lasting solutions to these challenges," Engr H.O.B Lawal explained.

"Our visit here today is to kick-start the ICCI new Exco Unveiling Programme. This is in continuation of our deliberate policy to interact with major companies and Traditional Rulers, within Ikorodu Division to attract credible and viable companies within Ikorodu Division to join the Chamber   for the advancement of Ikorodu Division as well as Lagos State industrially and commercially.

"Conscious of the fact that since the 70s Ikorodu Division has maintained it's dominant role as a business  and industrial hub of Lagos State,  the new Exco is poised to galvanize all commerce and industry groups into a strong  body whose synergy will enhance the ease of doing business with the concomitant effect of attracting more business." He added.

In his response, HRM Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, congratulated the new executive and assured them of his unflinching support towards the development of Ikorodu Division. He promised the Exco of more participants from Igbogbo and enjoined the Chamber to endeavor in resuscitating the falling Companies in Igbogbo land.

Same were said by the Chamber President, Engr H.O.B Lawal, at the Palace of Sekumade of Ipakodo, when the Chamber visited the monarch and appealed for effective collaboration towards the growth and development of Ikorodu Division.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, while responding to speech of the Chamber President, called on ICCI to lay more emphasis on small and medium scale industries, saying the advancement of any Nation stands on small and medium scale industries.

He further appealed passionately for the reconstruction of Ogolonto/Ipakodo road, in order to enhance smooth and cordial business transactions.

The Chamber is however ready to unveil the new Exco members on Thursday, 8th of November, 2018, at Ikorodu Town Hall. The Exco list includes:

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
