ELECTION 2019: APC RECONCILES AGGRIEVED ASPIRANTS IN IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu. "You'll benefit from Party's Victory," Asipa Kaoli tells the aspirants.
Ikorodu Division was on Friday, October 19, again set another good precedence for other Divisions in Lagos State to emulate, when the APC East Senatorial Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, in his official capacity, reconciled the aspirants that participated in last Primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ikorodu Division.
The meeting which was covered by MegaXpression Magazine, lasted for hours at the Party Secretariat, ACME, Ikeja, and had in attendance the State Chairman, Mr Tunde Balogun, who was ably represented by his Deputy, Dr. Sunny Ajose, one of the Party leaders from Ikorodu, Chief Adenrele Olowu, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly and representative of Ikorodu Constituency 1, Hon SOB Agunbiade, representative of Ikorodu Constituency 2, Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, former Clerk of LSHA and East Senatorial Aspirant, Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, aspirants from Ikorodu Constituency 1, Barr. Lekan Ijelu, Adeniyi Anifowose, Omowunmi Ogbara, Yinka Majekodunmi, Princess Mulikat Oyefusi and Olusesan Akeju from Ikorodu Constituency 2. House of Reps Candidate, Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, Hon Saheed Ibikunle, Hon Adeola Jokomba and Hon Agbaje Nero took an apology for not making the meeting.
During the meeting, Asipa Kaoli told the aspirants that this is the first step, that the next meeting will be with the Apex leaders in Ikorodu, under the leadership of the former Deputy Governor and former SSG, Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, and other party leaders, who will finalize all, for Ikorodu Division to have victories at the polls next year.
He therefore urged the aggrieved aspirants to bury their hatchets and do everything possible to win Ikorodu Division for APC come 2019 elections. "We must work together to ensure that the will of the people is not subverted", he said.
While narrating his past political experience and how he benefitted from the advise given by the leaders, Asipa Kaoli enjoined the aggrieved aspirants to learn from that and let the progress and development of Ikorodu Division override their personal ambitions. He appealed passionately for the politics of Ikorodu to be totally devoid of violence and continue to live as a family. "You'll benefit from the victory of the Party," he assured the aspirants.
Some of the aggrieved aspirants, who spoke at the meeting expressed their grievances and later pledged their loyalty to the Party despite losing the primary and they also assured to work for the victory of the party. According to their submissions, it was agreed at the meeting that:
1. The rift among the Leadership of APC in Ikorodu Division must be resolved.
2. The reconciliation meeting will be extended to other leaders and spreading the appealing to major Stakeholders in Ikorodu Division.
3. They agreed to work for the victory of the Party and all aspirants will be part of campaign organization.
4. The leaders must ensure that the numbers of appointments to Ikorodu Division must be proportional to our size, at least, 5 Commissioners from Ikorodu Division.
In his remarks, the State Chairman, Mr Tunde Balogun, applauded the Ikorodu aspirants for coming together and advised them to remain one. "It's an example for others to emulate," he said.
The Chairman who revealed this through his Deputy, Dr. Sunny Ajose, called on Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, Hon SOB Agunbiade and Hon Nurudeen Sholaja-Saka, to work together with those that lost at the primaries to ensure that the APC emerge victorious in the coming Elections in Ikorodu Division. Ajose further thanked all the aspirants for their commitment to the Party and enjoined them to be submissive to Party leaders.
