IJEDE DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION GIVES SCHOLARSHIP TO OUTSTANDING STUDENTS, LAUNCHES ICT CENTRE. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Reveals the Hindsight, Insight and Foresight of Ijede through its public lecture.

It was a memorable day when all roads led to Ijede township, at the 2018 Ijede Development Foundation, IDF, Scholarship awards, quiz and debate competitions and public lecture, held on Saturday, October 20, in Ijede, Lagos State. The event took place at the Ijede Town Hall, with the theme, “Ijede: The Hindsight, the Insight and the foresight”, delivered by Dr. Tunji Dosunmu, while Dr Ganiy Agbaje, FNIS, was the Chairman of the occasion.

At the lecture, twenty-nine prominent Ijede sons and daughters who are undergraduates were honoured with IDF Scholarship Awards, among which are Abiru Wahab Oriyomi, HND 1, Laspotech, Agbabiaka Oladimeji, 200Level LASU, Oluokun Shakirat, 200level University of Ibadan, Salisu Kareemot Adeola, Law 500level LASU, Abiru Adijat ND 1, Laspotech, Agbabiaka Halima, 400level LASU, Abdulraman Mujeeb, 100level UNILAG, Oshikoya Risqot, 100level LASU, Lawal Rasheed, HND 1 Laspotech, Adekoya Maryam, HND 1 Moshood Abiola Poly, Raheem Quadri, 100level LASU, Olatunji Modinat, 100level LASU, Murana Basit, 200Level LASU, Onilenla Temitope, 100level LASU, Adeyanju Olalekan, 200Level LASU and Onilenla Khadijat, 200Level LASU.

In his welcome address, the IDF Chairman, Alhaji Fola Salu, expressed gratitude to God and thanked the co-members for the journey so far.

"Since we launched this Foundation on the  8th February, 2014 and pronounced our vision and mission, we have consistently maintained our status as a non-political, non-religious and not profit-making organization.

"We  also have been committed to the rapid development of education because we firmly believe that this investment in education would translate into a rapid development of our community.

"In keeping with the tradition of Ijede Development Foundation (IDF), all the donations you have been giving us have been utilized with transparent accountability. This is our bond.

"I am happy to report that the number of our Bursary-Award sponsors has continued to increase.
In our first year, there were ten (10) awards. Last year, 2017, the number of sponsors rose to twenty-three (23) and today (2018) the bursary awards have further increased to 29 (Twenty-nine). This is obviously a clear reflection of the trust you all have reposed in us. We  are profoundly grateful." Alhaji Fola Salu explained.

He further revealed that they have carefully selected this year's merit awardees. According to him, "they are of track records and outstanding performances who have made great contribution to the upliftment of the IDF in particular and this community in general, namely;

"1.Rotarian Ademola Samusideen Olutusin: Role Model Award as a worthy Ambassador  of Ijede.
2.Hadex Group of Schools: The most consistent school in the IDF Quiz and Debate competition since 2014.
3.Mr. Chike Uzoechi of Luwasa Senior High School, Ijede as the Most Outstanding Teacher in the Debate category of the competition.
4.Mr. Oyewole Olusegun Habeeb: Award of Excellence for his contribution to the success of IDF Quiz and Debates completion since inception."

Mr Simeon Tunji Dosunmu, in his eloquent lecture gave Justice to the Hindsight, Insight and Foresight of Ijede town. He was able to grasp the details of origin and genealogies of a calm, cool and halcyon town called Ijede. "The people, politics, power play, peace, pollutions and pleasures of Ijede people are the most fascinating," he said.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
