The Olayinka/Stadium Road FC was on Wednesday at Igbogbo Sports Stadium proved unbeatable again as they overcame a stubborn Aiyegbami FC squad on penalties after a One all draw 90 minutes to retain their Adeboruwa Cup Competition title, in celebration of Igbogbo Day festival 2019. It was the second successive win for Olayinka/Stadium Road FC, MegaXpression reports. 

Triumph was achieved despite the red card given to them, and on the back of many scoring chances missed in 53rd, 67th and 75th minutes by Gbadamosi Nurudeen, Ajibade Ibrahim and Alagbe Lateef of Olayinka/Stadium Road FC, four days after winning their semi final with seven goals to two.

Opportunities were few and far between in a tight and cagey game in the Igbogbo Sports Stadium. Both teams watched each other’s heels closely. Eventual Man of the Match on the Olayinka/Stadium Road FC side, and Apanishile Wale on the Aiyegbami FC side, came close with sweet touches in the closing stages of the first half, before the half ended in 1:0 in favour of Olayinka/Stadium Road FC, scored by Legbe Yamareni.

In the 48th minute, Aiyegbami FC player blasted a good chance over the bar, and 14 minutes later, Meme Olokodana good move and pull –out was overhit. In the 65th minute, Meme Olokodana ran determinedly onto a brilliant pass from Apanishile Wale, but could not be scythed by goalkeeper Alarape Aina of Olayinka/Stadium road FC, which gave Aiyegbami FC the equaliser to make it 1:1 draw.

In the penalty shoot–out, Aiyegbami FC missed two of their kicks, while Olayinka/Stadium Road FC, scored four of their kicks. The Coach of Aiyegbami FC watched in agony as goalkeeper Alarape Aina stretched to safe penalty and hand Olayinka/Stadium Road FC the trophy.

Cash gifts and trophies were later presented to the players, runners-up team and winner. Fair play award was given to Aina Olowu, while Ismail Aremu of Olayinka/Stadium Road FC got the highest goal scorer award. Most Outstanding goal keeper award goes to Ayegbami FC goalkeeper, Tosin Aleshinloye, while MVP award received by Legbe Micharl Tamareni Olayinka/Stadium Road FC. 

Immediately after that, Merit Awards to some eminent personalities for their contributions towards the youths and Sports Development in Igbogbo were observed. Among the luck Awardees were CSP Ogunmuyiwa, Engr. Lateef Genti, Alhaji Ademola Talabi, Mr Hameed Ogunbanwo, and others.
