IKODASS HONORS ENGR. AKEEM LAMIDI, BASHEXY, OTHERS, AS 28TH IKORODU OGA DAY CELEBRATION CONTINUES. It's a well deserved honour, Ikorodu Monarch, Oba Adewale Shotobi reveals.
Sunday, 10th of November, 2019, was visited by the special occasion at Ikorodu Town Hall, which characterized by the Honorary Awards conferred on the industrious intellects who have made valid contributions in various human capacity to enhance the development of Ikorodu Division. In commemoration of the 28th Ikorodu Oga Celebration, the event was massively attended by people from all works of life.
Shortly after the official opening of the programme, the introduction of the Awardees was immediately done while the welcome address was made by the IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru. He was appreciative of the fact that the founding fathers of Ikorodu, deemed it fit to celebrate the indigenes annually which has enhanced cordial relationship and social networking among the indigenes. He expressed his satisfaction towards their achievement within the shortest period of time to have resharpened, rebranded and repackaged the Division's collective inheritance.
"It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you again to this year's Award ceremony which is part of the activities marking the 28th Edition of Oga Day celebration. Today is set aside to give due recognition to indigenes and non indigenes who have excelled in their various professional endeavour and name by extension contributed to the growth, progress and development of the community in particular and the state in general," he said.
He further stated to the Awardees, "the interest of the kingdom must be your primary objective. IKODASS is a socio-philanthropic and cultural organisation with mandates to carry out some responsibilities which are capital intensive."
HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, in his royal remarks applauded the audacity and tenacity of Otunba Abiru in galvanizing supports from all and sundry towards rebranding IKODASS. He further rendered his unreserved kudos to those who had initiated the idea of IKODASS and has consistently been celebrated in Ikorodu.
Moment for the conferment of Honorary Awards were next on the agenda. MegaXpression Community Magazine gathered that success is guaranteed when it meets with adequate preparation. This paved way for Engr. Akeem Abiodun Lamidi (Apon) who was conferred with the Associate Award.
Engr. Akeem Lamidi, an active underground player in power industry as an electrical maintenance engineer with the largest power generation company in West Africa: Egbin power Plc; a subsidiary of Sahara group of companies.
Given this is resourcefulness, the company has sent him an human and capacity development training to Belfort in France, Pretoria in south African and Rajasthan in India.
Akeem was born on the 1st of January, 1974 into the two Royal families: paternally into the family of Olaiga Lamidi, a descendant of late Oba kuyinu of Ikorodu (the eight Oba). From the linage of Redemo ruling House in ikorodu, and maternally into the family of Eniabire Sarumi from the Shokun-Ado Onilegbale and Akinsemoyin Royal family of Lagos Island (Isale-Eko).
Akeem is a member of both the prestigious Nigerian society of engineers (NSE) and council for regulation of engineering in Nigeria (CEREN). He was one of the beneficiaries of scholarship Awards from both the Musediku Alogba (Construction One) Foundation and the Adikatu Olambiwonnu memorial scholarship programme for brilliant indigent students in Ikorodu and Ijede communities respectively.
He is a member and pioneer President of the prestigious Luwasa Club of Ijede and formal president of Development Platform Ikorodu. He is the current P.T.A Chairman of powerfields group of school (College) Egbin, Ijede and also the current President of Egbin Progressive (Ikorodu) cooperative multipurpose society limited (EPCMS).
Engr Akeem served as the Secretary of the 2018 Special committee for Ajede Luwasa Day celebration, and currently the Chairman of the special commitee for the 2019 Ajede Day celebration. He is also one of the developmental Pillars of Ijede Student union. He is the Patron of elegant ladies club of Nigeria and adviser of progressive ladies club of Nigeria.
The CEO Suave Records & Muzic and a Senior legislative Aide at the National Assembly, Mr Hassan Bashir Oluwakemi, popularly called Bashexy, was also honoured with fellow and Associate Award.
Bashexy started his career from the banking sector in 2002 with Union Bank, then in 2007 with First Inland Bank as a direct marketing representative and later, First City Monument Bank as a profit centre manager.
As a passionate individual with a burning desire and commitment to serve, Bashexy left the Banking sector to take up an administration and teaching role in Negbenebor International School Benin City in 2009 before relocating back to Lagos in 2011 to become Tax Auditor with Lagos State Inland Revenue Service till date.
Alhaji AbdulAkeem Oladipupo Olusanya, Chief Salau Olasanjo, Prince Kamarudeen Adeyemi Olutosin, Mrs Olasumbo Folake Shitta, and Chief Hassan Taiwo Atofarati were all confered with Fellow of IKODASS Awards.
