IGBOGBO UNVEILS PROGRAMMES FOR 31ST IGBOGBO DAY FESTIVAL, SAYS IT'S AIMED AT CELEBRATING ITS IDENTITY.
Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, and Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, on Friday, November 22, 2019, again unveiled its programmes for the 31st Edition of Igbogbo Day Celebration. The Planning Committee Chairman, Mr Gbenga Faniyi, revealed the nine days Programmes at a Press briefing held at Oba Johnson Fatola's Pavilion.
Faniyi reiterated that the Planning Committee's objective is not only to organise the Igbogbo Day, but to continuing carrying out total re-packaging and rebranding of Igbogbo to suit recent developments in Lagos State and the world.
"The reasons for staging this yearly event was to keep the heritage and traditions of our land in line, so as to avoid it being going into extinction," Faniyi said to MegaXpression correspondent. He further assured that Igbogbo town will forever be proud to showcase its cultural heritage to the world, just as it also advances it to meet with international standard.
"This year’s Igbogbo Day will begin effectively on the 22nd of November - 1st of December, 2019 and in line with our practice, the Iwure will hold at Adeboruwa Palace by followed by Jumat Service and later Civil Service Day at De Shokis Hall.
"On Saturday, November 23, 2019, Igbogbo day International Carnival at Adeboruwa's Palace, Igbogbo by 7am, while on Sunday, November 24, 2019, Artists Day at Adeboruwa Palace Igbogbo by 2pm followed by Ram competition at Igbogbo Sports Stadium by 2pm.
"Monday, November 25, 2019, Educational Day, Symposium, Drug abuse and Final quiz and Debate at Adeboruwa Palace Igbogbo, starting from 10am. While Tuesday, November 26, 2019, will be for Free Blood Pressure Test at Adeboruwa Palace by 9am.
"On Wednesday November 27, 2019, will be for Cervical screening at Oba J.O Fatola's Pavilion by 10am after which Consultation will follow suit at a designated hospital. Also, Welfare for the aged at Adeboruwa Palace and the Adeboruwa football final match will take place at Igbogbo Sports Stadium by 2pm.
"Thursday, November 28, 2019, will be for Oloja, Artisans, Mini trade fair Day at Igbogbo Sports Stadium. Also, Youth Empowerment, Youth gala night, Miss, Adeboruwa beauty pageant will hold at Mikky Onas Hall by 4pm.
"Saturday, November 30, 2019, will be Grand finale Day for the 31st Igbogbo Day celebration, featuring musicians, at Igbogbo Sports Stadium by 9am. While Sunday, December 1, 2019, would be Christian thanksgiving service, at Methodist church Igbogbo 10am," Faniyi explained.
Questions were entertained from the Press with accurate responses from the Planning Committee, saying this year's celebration is targeted towards having a befitting Town Hall in Igbogbo.
Also addressing the gathering was the Vice President of IDEA and Oluomo of Igbogbo Kingdom, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, who eloquently revealed that this year's edition is also aimed at unifying the people of Igbogbo, so as to encourage all in channeling their strength towards the upliftment of the Community.
She therefore urged Igbogbo indigenes both home and abroad to make this year's celebration a mother of all celebrations.
