IMOTA LEADS AGAIN, UNVEILS PLANS FOR 33RD 'AYAYO DAY' FESTIVAL, SETS TO COMMENCE PROGRAMMES DECEMBER 13. It's aimed at celebrating our tradition and cultural values, Imota Monarch reveals.

Imota Ayayo Development Association, on Sunday, November 17, 2019, unveiled its programmes for the 33rd Edition of Ayayo Day Celebration. The Chairman, Mr Jibodu Adeleke Gilbert, revealed the One Week Programme at a Press briefing held at Ranodu Palace, Imota.

Jibodu affirmed that the Association’s main goal is to continue making Ayayo Day set standard for others. He reiterated that the Association’s objective is not only to organise the Ayayo Day, but to continuing carrying out total re-packaging and rebranding of Imota to suit recent developments in Lagos State and the world.

"The reasons for staging this yearly event was to keep the heritage and traditions of our land in line, so as to avoid it being going into extinction," Jibodu said while speaking with MegaXpression Community Magazine.

He further assured that Imota town will forever be proud to showcase its cultural heritage to the world, just as it also advances it to meet with international standard.

"This year’s Ayayo Day will begin effectively on the 13th - 21st December, 2019 and in line with our practice:

1. Special Jumat Service and Ebiripo Day on 13th of December 2019 at Imota central mosque via Ayayo road and Ajina market square, Imota.

2. Church Interdenominational service and Ram Competition on 15th December 2019 at Imota Methodist Church, and LG primary school, Imota.

3. Education/Career guidance and counseling on 17th December 2019 at CDC Hall Agundugbun road, Imota.

4.  Environmental Sanitation on 18th December 2019 at Ajina market Square Imota.

5. Annual communal hunting expedition and Entertainment of invited guests on 19th of December 2019 at Ajina market square imota.

6.  Final football competition on 20th of December 2019 at LGA primary School, late Oba Adebola Oredoyin road, Atere Imota.

7. Grand Finale/cultural Day will hold on 21st of December 2019 at U.P.E playing ground, behind UBA ATM gallery, Imota, Lagos State," Mr Jibodu Adeleke explained.

He further expressed profound gratitude to Prince Wasiu Agoro, Chairman  of Imota LCDA and the Lagos State government, for the yearly financial supports which has assisted the Association in attaining its present status. "It is our hope that the governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu and Chairman Wasiu Agoro will once again make the association proud," he added.

Mr Jibodu also thanked the Ranodu 0f Imota, HRM Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro and other Royal Heads in Ikorodu Division, who have been wonderful in their supports and cooperation.

In his remarks, the Council Boss, Prince Wasiu Agoro, applauded the Imota Development Association for the great achievements in the past, more so, on Imota Town Hall. "Despite showcasing our cultural value yearly, Ayayo Day has never missed for a year since 33years," he said. Agoro therefore assured this year's Ayayo Day organizers of his support towards making this year's celebration a memorable event. 

His Royal Majesty, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, wholeheartedly passed vote of confidence on Mr Jibodu as Chairman, Imota Development Association. He charges the people of Imota to rise up towards the upliftment of Imota Community. The Monarch quickly went historical on the liberation of Imota and his struggle in the past to put Imota among the best communities. He later flagged off the event to commence, alongside the Council Chairman.

Also speaking with MegaXpression correspondent shortly after the Press Briefing was the Vice Chairman, Imota Development Association, Mr Osilokun Hassan Taiwo, who eloquently revealed that this year's Ayayo Day is also aimed at grooming the youths, so as to encourage them in channeling their strength towards the upliftment of Imota. He therefore urged sons and daughters of Imota, both home and abroad to make this year's Ayayo celebration a mother of all celebrations.

Also in attendance at the Press Briefing are the Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA,  Comrade Olusesan Daini, as a guest, Planning Committee Chairman, Chief Babasanya Ayotola, Olootu Omo'ba, Comrade Biliaminu Ogunjimi, Hon Tunde Adejo, Chief Goriola Akinbowale, Engr Sunday Akinsanya, Mr Bakare Akibu Adetayo, Comrade Lukman Komolafe, Hon Ahmed Fagbesan, Chief Segun Okulaja, Mr Oyefolu Mudashiru, Mrs Odumosu Abiola, amongst others.
