AROYEWUN TAKES 'MENTORSHIP WITH HOA' TO OGUNLEWE, SEEKS WISDOM FOR IGBOGBO YOUTHS


The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has taken his youth-focused “Mentorship with HOA” initiative to the doorstep of another elder statesman, former Permanent Secretary, former Minister of Works and Infrastructure, and Member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, in a strategic move to expose young people in the community to the wisdom and experiences of accomplished leaders.

The visit to Senator Ogunlewe formed part of the activities of the annual mentorship programme initiated and powered by Chairman Aroyewun to guide youths of Igbogbo/Bayeku through their career, leadership and personal development journeys.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Aroyewun explained that the essence of the initiative is to connect the younger generation with leaders who have successfully navigated the challenges of life and can share practical experiences that will help shape their future.

According to him, accomplished leaders have a responsibility to mentor the next generation, adding that the youths must be deliberately guided, encouraged and prepared to take up leadership responsibilities. Aroyewun also acknowledged the important role played by the youths in his emergence as Executive Chairman, stressing that their support and confidence gave him the opportunity to serve.

Addressing the youths, the elder statesman, Senator Ogunlewe urged the youths to take education seriously and remain committed to continuous learning and self-development, noting that success requires dedication, patience and perseverance.

Ogunlewe also commended Chairman Aroyewun for prioritising youth development and encouraged the council to strengthen its scholarship programmes and educational interventions, particularly for less-privileged members of the community.

He further charged the council’s Education Department to develop a comprehensive database of Igbogbo graduates, including holders of Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, PhDs and other professional qualifications.

According to him, such a database would help the council identify the wealth of human capital within Igbogbo/Bayeku and create opportunities for networking, mentorship, employment and community development.

The grand finale of the Mentorship with HOA programme is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, and will feature a distinguished panel comprising accomplished young professionals and community leaders.

The panelists are Dr. Muritala Seriki, APC Candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe Constituency II; Damilare Orimoloye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports; Opeyemi Damilola Seidu, Real Estate Expert; and Dr. Leke Dankuwo, President, Igbogbo Youth Forum.

The panel is expected to engage participants on leadership, career development, entrepreneurship, personal growth and the responsibilities of young people in community and national development.

The initiative has attracted the support of party faithful, members of the Chairman’s cabinet and other stakeholders, with many commending Aroyewun for creating a platform that goes beyond political engagement to focus on the intellectual, professional and leadership development of Igbogbo youths.
