The colourful event at the Council Secretariat attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, community stakeholders, party faithful and residents, who gathered to celebrate what many described as a year of purposeful, people-oriented and impactful governance.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of scholarships and bursary awards to students across different academic levels. Nine PhD students received ₦1 million each to support their research and academic pursuits, while 50 Master's degree students were awarded ₦100,000 each. In addition, 107 undergraduate students received ₦50,000 each, reaffirming the administration's commitment to educational advancement and human capital development.

The council also extended financial support to senior citizens, widows and vulnerable residents. Hundreds of beneficiaries, including 120 women and 80 men, were presented with ₦50,000 each as part of the Chairman's social intervention programme aimed at improving the welfare of the elderly and less privileged members of the community.

Hon. Benson further announced that a mega empowerment programme for artisans would be held before the forthcoming general elections, a move expected to strengthen small businesses, create employment opportunities and boost the local economy.

The anniversary celebration commenced with a special Jumu'at thanksgiving service, followed by the Ilera Eko and Free Healthcare Mission, which provided quality medical services and free medication to residents. The activities also featured a Christian thanksgiving service and a football competition that promoted unity, healthy living and youth engagement.

As part of the celebration, the administration commissioned a Primary Healthcare Centre at Oke Lisa Town, bringing healthcare services closer to residents, while a newly established Local Vigilante Group was also inaugurated to complement existing security agencies and enhance the safety of lives and property within the council area.

The occasion witnessed an outpouring of commendations from eminent personalities who praised the Chairman for what they described as visible achievements within a short period.

The Ranodu of Imota Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, applauded Hon. Benson for delivering meaningful dividends of democracy and maintaining a cordial relationship with the traditional institution. The monarch noted that the Chairman's developmental strides have positively transformed Imota and inspired confidence among the people.

Also speaking, Governance Advisory Council (GAC) leaders Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe described the administration as a shining example of responsive grassroots governance. They urged the Chairman to remain focused on programmes that directly improve the quality of life of residents while assuring him of continued support.

Former Commissioner Mr. F. O. Lasisi, former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Nurudeen Saka- Solaja, and the immediate past Chairman of Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Kunle Agoro, equally lauded Hon. Benson's performance, noting that his administration has recorded remarkable progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and social welfare. They expressed confidence that the council would continue on the path of sustainable development under his leadership.

Many of the beneficiaries could not hide their excitement as they expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chairman for the life-changing interventions. Several students described the scholarship awards as timely assistance that would ease their financial burdens and enable them to pursue their academic dreams without interruption.

The elderly, widows and other beneficiaries of the social support programme also showered prayers on the council chairman, describing the gesture as a demonstration of compassion, responsive leadership and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.

Residents and stakeholders at the event agreed that the first year of Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele's administration has been defined by purposeful leadership, inclusive governance and impactful projects that have touched virtually every sector of the local council.

The grand finale ended amidst celebration and optimism, with many expressing confidence that the administration's developmental momentum would continue, further positioning Imota LCDA as one of the leading grassroots governments in Lagos State.
