IMOTA LCDA MARKS ONE YEAR WITH SPECIAL JUMA'AT THANKSGIVING AS BENSON REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT
The Executive Chairman of Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sunday Ayodele Benson, has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to grassroots development, transparency and people-oriented governance as his administration commemorates its first anniversary in office.
Benson made the pledge on Friday, July 31, 2026, during a special Jumu'ah thanksgiving service held at the Central Mosque, Imota, as part of the week-long activities marking one year of his administration.
The solemn gathering brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, government officials, religious leaders, party faithful and residents, who offered prayers of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah for the successes recorded by the administration over the past year while seeking divine guidance for greater achievements in the years ahead.
Addressing the congregation after the prayer session, the council chairman expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Imota LCDA for their steadfast support, cooperation and confidence in his administration. He noted that the successes achieved within the last twelve months were products of collective efforts and pledged to sustain the delivery of impactful projects and programmes that would further improve the well-being of residents.
According to him, the anniversary celebration represents more than a milestone in governance, serving as an opportunity to reflect on the administration's journey, appreciate God's faithfulness and renew its dedication to providing purposeful leadership and quality service delivery.
Delivering the Jumat sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Imota LCDA, Alhaji Maruf Kolawole Adamo-Orogbogbo, charged leaders at all levels to govern with justice, integrity, humility and accountability. He also prayed for lasting peace, unity and accelerated development in Imota LCDA, Lagos State and the country at large.
In his remarks, the Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, CFR, Olufoworesete II, applauded the administration for dedicating its anniversary to thanksgiving. The monarch also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the creation of the 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State, describing the development as a significant milestone in bringing governance closer to the people. He encouraged the council chairman to remain committed to initiatives that would continue to uplift the lives of the people.
Among dignitaries present at the special prayer were the Vice Chairman of Imota LCDA, Princess Abisoye Omowunmi Jimoh; the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Fagbesan Akeem Muhammed; members of the Executive Council; councillors; management staff led by the Council Manager, Alhaji Enitan Nojim; Heads of Departments and Units; APC leaders; community stakeholders, religious leaders and other eminent personalities.
Residents and stakeholders commended the council chairman for beginning the anniversary celebration with prayers and thanksgiving, describing the gesture as a demonstration of gratitude to God and confidence in divine guidance for the continued growth and development of Imota LCDA.
The special Jumu'ah thanksgiving is one of several programmes lined up to commemorate the administration's first anniversary, with other activities focusing on community development, healthcare, youth engagement, security, empowerment initiatives and interfaith services aimed at strengthening inclusive governance and improving the quality of life of residents.
