JIMI BENSON FACILITATES FG FERTILISER DISTRIBUTION TO 500 IKORODU FARMERS


In a bid to boost food production, enhance agricultural productivity and support the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, has facilitated the distribution of Federal Government-owned fertilisers to more than 500 farmers across the constituency.

The distribution exercise, held on Saturday, benefitted farmers drawn from the six Local Government and Local Council Development Areas that make up Ikorodu Federal Constituency. Each beneficiary received a 50kg bag of fertiliser to support cultivation during the current farming season and cushion the increasing cost of agricultural inputs.

The intervention forms part of the Federal Government's agricultural support programme being implemented through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) to improve access to essential farm inputs, increase crop yields, strengthen food security and promote sustainable agricultural development nationwide.

Representing Rep. Benson at the event, the Director-General of Jimi Benson's iCare Foundation and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), Mayor Deen Sanwoola, described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the lawmaker's commitment to ensuring that Federal Government programmes directly benefit the people at the grassroots.

According to him, agriculture remains central to Nigeria's economic growth and food security, stressing that supporting farmers with critical inputs such as fertilisers is essential to improving rural livelihoods and increasing agricultural output.

Sanwoola noted that Rep. Benson has remained consistent in attracting people-oriented interventions to Ikorodu Federal Constituency, adding that the fertiliser distribution reflects his dedication to translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into meaningful benefits for constituents.

"This is more than an empowerment programme. It is an investment in our farmers, food security and the future of our communities. Rep. Babajimi Benson believes that when farmers succeed, families are fed, businesses flourish and the economy grows. That is why he remains committed to bringing the dividends of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots," he said.

He urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilisers to maximise productivity and assured them of the lawmaker's continued support for programmes that improve livelihoods. Beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, citing the rising cost of fertilisers and other farming inputs.

One of the farmers expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rep. Benson for the initiative, saying the support would significantly reduce production costs and improve harvests during the current planting season.

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Vivian Adewole, commended the federal lawmaker for his responsiveness to the needs of the people. "He understands the challenges facing our communities and consistently connects the people with opportunities. Whether in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, food support or agriculture, Rep. Benson has continued to demonstrate quality representation. This fertiliser programme is another testimony to that commitment," she said.

The beneficiaries also praised the transparent and orderly conduct of the distribution exercise, noting that genuine farmers from different communities across Ikorodu Federal Constituency benefitted from the programme.

They offered prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rep. Babajimi Benson while pledging to utilise the fertilisers effectively to increase food production and contribute to the nation's agricultural development.

The fertiliser distribution is the latest in a series of agricultural and socio-economic empowerment initiatives facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson, further reinforcing his commitment to rural development, improved livelihoods and the effective delivery of the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
