LAGOS EAST SENATORIAL SEAT: HON ADEBAYO OSINOWO DECLARES INTENTION TO CONTEST, ASSURES OF QUALITY REPRESENTATION. | Shakiru Seidu. "He remained unflinching in his promotion of the One-Lagos Concept," Rt. Hon. Obasa reveals.

As the APC primary election set to hold this month, aspirants are not leaving any stone unturned as they're all moving around to woo the party members. Thursday, September 13, 2018, was a historical day at CMD Event Centre, Shangisha, Lagos, where Hon Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo, known as 'Peperito', made an official declaration of his intention to contest for the Lagos East Senatorial Seat.

Among the Party big wigs that present were GAC member, Alhaji Akanni Seriki, APC East Senatorial Vice Chairman, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, Majority Leader LSHA, Hon SOB Agunbiade and other Assembly Members from Lagos East, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Dr. Tola Kasali, Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR and other Members of National Assembly from Lagos East, Council Chairmen from Lagos East, 16 LGAs Chairmen and other party faithful. Royal Heads, CDCs, Market Women, Artisans, Road transport workers, religious leaders, Arewa and Igbo leaders were also in attendance.

While addressing the gathering, Hon Osinowo said "It is my pleasure to welcome you all. Sincerely, I am grateful for your presence, I feel highly honored and I appreciate you all for gracing this occasion.

"Since 2003, our people in Kosofe State Constituency 1 have continually reposed their trust in me by giving me their mandate to represent them at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

"Although the road has been rough and tough, with all sense of modesty, I believe that the level of our success in the State Assembly has given birth to today’s event. The decision to officially offer my humble self to represent the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District in the upper Legislative Chamber is born out of legislative zeal.

"Luckily, my aspiration has the blessings of leaders of our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in this senatorial district.

"The assignment to represent this senatorial district is a challenge onerous task. Notwithstanding, it is a call for higher service. No doubt, with the support of Almighty Allah and you all here; we shall excel."

He also went further to reveal how he has been maintaining peace at the Lagos state House of Assembly. "Based on what the people are saying in the State House of Assembly, I have been known to be a peacemaker, with the support of my colleagues in the House of Assembly the most peaceful in the country. So, I am taking the message of political peace and love to the upper chamber.

"Permit me to say with all humility, with my sixteen years of experience in the State House of Assembly. I acquired enough legislative experience to propel me for greater achievement in the RED CHAMBER.

"I have also been actively involved in the political activities of the East Senatorial District for over two decades. I know where the shoe pinches. Your welfare and improved standard of living remain my priority and I’m assuring you that I shall remain totally committed to all my promises," he said.

The erudite legislator also revealed that his human and community development programs does not start today, assured that it will continue to grow. "My legislative commitments in the RED CHAMBER will not put a stop to the existing program in the district. Rather it will continue to expand," he said.

It was also gathered by MegaXpression Magazine that the life of this quintessential legislator and political enigma was nothing short of a living proof of how far courage and determination can take one in life.

Hon Osinowo, was also defined in Nigerian politics by his many struggles alongside other national heroes to right many wrongs of the past and present, as well as the choices he has made in adverse times, be has shown overtime that he never renege on his beliefs and promises. He was said to be a man of values and principles.

The man called 'Pepper and or Pepperitto' as the cases may be, growing up started at Saint Augustine Primary School, Ijebu-Ode, Onward to Isoyin Grammar School, Isoyin Ijebu, where he completed his secondary education. 

Afterwards, he were made to know that he obtained a Diploma in Italian Language, from Universita per Stanieri Perugia- Italy From 1979-1981, later another Diploma in Geometary from Instituto per Geomertra Rome – Italy 1981-1983, and later specializazione in mass communication from Urbaniana Universita Rome Italy (1981-1984) Italy Instituto per Geometra, Rome, Italy.

He craves excellence in everything he does with a penchant for community and national service, he worked with the Federal Ministry of Works as a Land Officer between 1977 & 1979. He was said to later delve into the private sector upon returning from his higher education Italy, with his own company, NITAL International in 1986. A consummate entrepreneur, he brought his astounding experience and incredible expertise and ingenuity to the fore as he also set up NIMCO Construction Company Limited and NIMCO Dredging Company Limited, a few years later.

Despite all his achievements and successes in business, he was said to have found it impossible to sit back and watch the tyranny unleashed on the country by the then Nigerian Military Government. He fought hard with others in the struggle for a free Nigeria. 

Hon Osinowo had earlier before then, participated in grassroots mobilization for the then NPN as a prominent youth group chairman during the second republic. His defining moment in Nigeria’s politics however, was during the emergence of the late MKO Abiola as President-elect under the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the annulled June 12 1993 elections in what is arguably the nations freest and fairest election. 

He fought gallantly and relentlessly for the recognition of M.K.O mandate leading to his detention with other progressives throughout Gen. Sani Abacha’s regime and beyond. 

While in prison, he was said to hone his faith in God and the belief that the political space can be cleansed of charlatans and populated with progressives. He nursed both tenaciously all through his detention and hoped for a chance to be free and work towards his dreams.

He was a prominent member of NADECO and was neck deep in the struggle for the actualization of June 12 and democracy in Nigeria.

Hon Adebayo Osinowo was a prominent member of the Defunct Alliance for Democracy alongside Pa Abramah Adesanya, Late Pa Dawodu, Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Others. He was chairman Reconciliation committee that brought aggrieved parties back into Alliance for Democracy both in Somolu and Kosofe. He was revealed to be very active in the defunct social Democratic Party and played formidable role at both Local and Presidential Elections

He has also been very feasible in the metamorphosis of the progressive formation, from Alliance for Democracy (AD) to Action Congress (AC) to Action Congress of Nigerias (ACN) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

His prison experience and the desire to touch the lives of the ordinary people on the street, made him contest for the House of Assembly seat in 2003. 

Through his many legislative and political interventions, projects and empowerment, numerous lives are daily being moved from nothingness to greatness. For one, Osinowo was said to have brought an end to the litany of unfulfilled promises by those they have previously trusted with their votes. Ask his constituents about him and they will promptly tell Hon. Osinowo was said to be an epitomy of unprecedented and qualitative representation.

Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Dr Tola Kasali and other party leaders, in their remarks applauded the choice of Hon Osinowo to represent East Senatorial at the upper chamber in 2019.

"He's a as seasoned legislator who remained unflinching in his promotion of the one-Lagos concept where everyone irrespective of class, creed or tribe is given an opportunity," Obasa revealed.
