The Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Bareehu Gbenga Ashafa has commissioned an ICT Centre and Hall inside the popular Oreyo Grammar School, Igbogbo, Lagos State.
While commissioning the project, Ashafa said the initiative was borne out of his zeal to make learning attractive to teachers and students in his senatorial district.
He added that the facility will aid teaching and learning in a serene atmosphere.
He noted that the adoption of technology-mediated learning was a viable option towards improving the state educational system which is one of the cardinal points of the present administration led by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Ashafa further thanked the people of Ikorodu Division for the undiluted support given towards his aspiration. After affirming that the projects were being sponsored by him, he assured that more structures are still in the offing. He named the ICT Centre in honor of the former SSG of Lagos State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, who has done tremendously well towards the development of Ikorodu Division and Lagos State at large.
Before the official unveiling, the former SSG, Lagos State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, accepted the shocking gift for naming the ICT Centre in his name during his life time. He lauded the uncommon ideology of Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, assured him of total support in his re-election bid and urged him not to relent.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Division, expressed joy and enthusiasm towards the performance of Sen. Gbenga Ashafa and for his tenacity of purpose.
He thanked and appreciated him for his kind gesture in construction, equipping of ICT centre with Computers for the people of Ikorodu Division. After wishing him well, the monarch assured that the community will make use of the ICT Center to train students of Ikorodu Division.
The attention was thereafter shifted to the official commissioning of both the Hall and ICT Centre.
While speaking with MegaXpression Magazine, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, applauded the gesture and wish Sen Ashafa well in his future endeavors. Saying that the facility will improve e-learning among students. The Monarch also assured that it would boost the moral of the students in their academic pursuit in the school.
