CULTURE, TRADITION AND GLAMOUR AT 30TH 'AJEDE LUWASA' DAY FESTIVAL. It's a means of enhancing Unity and Development in Ijede, Alhaji Fatiu Salisu, Engr. Akeem Lamidi reveal.
Ajede Luwasa Day celebration came into being 30 years back. MegaXpression Community News reports that it was a novel idea that was accepted by all and sundry in Ijede Kingdom, which meant to bring home sons and daughters of the kingdom both at home and in Diaspora. In the history of Ijede, the event has been able to bring forth different lineage and sections of the Ajedes together.
The 30th-year celebration was therefore seen as a unique occasion for the Ajede and this was evident right from the pre-celebration briefing to the grand finale day on Saturday, at the annual celebration ground at the Palace of Alajede.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Engr. Abiodun Akeem Lamidi had previously briefed MegaXpression Community News on the celebration. According to him, the celebration, “is of course the biggest gathering of all Ajede sons and daughters and it represents that unique opportunity to celebrate all that we hold dear as a people especially legacies left for us by our founding fathers.”
Such legacies he stated include, “honour, valour, bravery, respect for the Ajede stool, propagation of our cultural values and so on. We salute our present leaders championed by Regent of Ijede, High Chief Musediku Aliu Kayode, Chairman Ijede LCDA, Alhaji Fatiu Jimoh Salisu and others.”
The planning committee chairman emphasized that the theme for this year’s celebration; “Cultural Promotion as a means of enhancing Unity and Development ” would be real and be seen in social life, cultural, commercial activities and development of Ijede kingdom, adding that, “progress could all be achieved in an atmosphere of peace.
“We do not want the peace of a graveyard, but rather, we crave for a glamorous and lasting peace that brings about true development. The task of peaceful co-existence and progress requires that all hands must be on deck to achieve our laudable goals,” Engr. Akeem opined.
The high and might of the society were visibly present which added to the shine and glamour of the grand finale. Some of which are HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, House of Assembly Member and Chairman House Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Nurudeen Saka-Sholaja, APC East Senatorial Vice Chairmam, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, member fourth and fifth Assembly, Hon Saheed Hassan Adefarasin, Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Daini, CEO Oluwanisola Petroleum, Alhaja Jemiat Oluwanisola, Community Statesman, Engr. Lukman Erogbogbo, APC East Senatorial Women Leader, Yeye Fausat Gbadebo, PRO Laspotech, Mr Lanre Kuye, iCARE Team of Hon. Babajimi Adekoge Benson, MHR, Members of IKODASS, members of Development Platform led by Accountant Olakunle Matti, Alajede-in-Council, league of Baales, Groups, Associations, amongst others.
In his eloquent address, the Chairman Ijede LCDA, Alhaji Fatiu Jimoh Salisu, commended the people of Ijede for upholding the culture and tradition of the ancient land. He urged the people to see the celebration, not as only merry-making, but to reflect on how they can contribute to the growth of Ijede community.
"This is the essence of celebrating our town days, and I want to believe that both sons and daughters of Ijede land at home and the Diaspora will use this to contribute to the socio-economic growth of this great kingdom,” Chairman Fatiu urged.
The gathering was later entertained with melodious music by the fuji star, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
