INAUGURATION CEREMONY AWARD PRESENTATION
It was
an eventful occasion on Wednesday, 11th of December, 2019, when the Association of
Traditional Midwifery of Nigeria (ATMN) had their inauguration ceremony and award
presentations. The event started on a prayer note where Mr Fasasi Kayode
committed the program into God's hand.
After introducing the people of the high
table, Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, Mrs Omolara Abidemi Dahunsi, Mr Okelarin
A.Babatunde (Director of Community Health service) Permanent secretary ministry
of health, Abdul Wahab Babatunde Oshodi were recognised at the occasion.
In his eloquent address, Prince Dr. Mare Tajudeen Olusesi says
"Our gathering here today is remarkable in many ways. It is to affirm a
trend and more or less a global movement. Traditional midwives is now
acknowledged as integrated health care system without which realisation of the
health provisions in the millennium development goals will be a mirage.
"Moreover, the Lagos State traditional medicine board has
been in existence as far back 1980 during the administration of Governor Lateef
Jakande. Its power was further strengthened with the state health sector reform
of law 2006. As the regulator of the traditional medicine practice, the association of traditional Midwifery of Nigeria was formed in other to
improve the health care system in Lagos state and Nigeria as a whole."
Director of Community health service, Mr Okelarin A.Babatunde was also remarkably gave a mesmerizing speech which people were applauded for. He thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his uncommon efforts towards the sustainability of the health sector.
In his speech and piece of advice, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyinde, said to the audience that "it is our
responsibility to pull our people to get to their desired destination. We are
now known as the community birth attendance because our aim is to reduce
maternal death to sensitise and upgrade the skill of members, to prevent
mortality rate.
The attention was later shifted to the awardees section which brought
about organisations and individual serving as beneficiaries. The organisation awardees
are Lagos state traditional medicine board, Lagos state aid control agency,
Mushin Local government, FHI 36, Apin initiatives, Chal, Wariff and Save the children,
Lagos State college of health. While the individual awardees are Dr. Bunmi
Omoseyinde, Mrs Omolare Abidemi Dahunsi, Mr Okelarin A.Babatunde (Director
Community Heath service) Dr Segun Ogboye (Permanent secretary ministry of health and Abdul Wahab Babatunde Oshodi.
