IGBOGBO GLOWS WITH GLITZ, GLAMOUR OF 31ST IGBOGBO DAY FESTIVAL, AS THE COMMUNITY CELEBTRATES ITS IDENTITY. Royal Heads, Legislators, Business Moguls, others in attendance.

It was all glitz and glamour in Igbogbo on Saturday, November 30, 2019, when the Community celebrated its 31st Igbogbo Day  festival. MegaXpression  Community News reports that the venue, Igbogbo Sports Stadium was filled to capacity with indigenes, Monarchs and high profile personalities. Among the dignitaries were His Royal Majesties, Oba Mudashiru Ajibade Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Aderibigbe Asumo, Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu, Oba Abdulateef Taiwo Badru, Elejigbo of Langbasa, Oba Nelson Obayomi Ogunlari, Olowu of Owu-Ikosi, Oba Kazeem Gbadamoshi, Ologijo of Ogijo, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe and Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo.

Others are Hon Babajimi Adekoge Benson, MHR, Hon Nurudeen Saka-Sholaja of Ikorodu Constituency II, Chairman Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Banjo Adebisi, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiu Abiru, Agbaakin of Ikorodu, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, IDEA President a d Vice, Chief (Dr.) Omotunde Ogunlaja and Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Chairman Planning Committee, Mr Gbenga Faniyi, Engr. At the venue, the Clubs, Groups and Associations had enough space to sit while guests were also comfortably accommodated. Music was blaring from within the canopies leading to a cacophony of sounds, while the fuji star, Abass Akande Obesere was also entertaining the audience with his lovely music.

The Chairman, Igbogbo Development Association, IDEA, Chief (Dr.) Omotunde Ogunlaja, in his eloquent remarks saluted the Kabiyesi, HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, a d the founding fathers of Igbogbo Day celebration. He thanked the Kabiyesi for the privilege giving him and other members of IDEA to serve Igbogbo Community.

"While we are revealing a d enjoying celebration of this day, we must focus on the main reason we are gathered, which is to promote the development of Igbogbo in all its ramifications, socially, educationally, commercially a d in infrastructure. To that extent,  we plan to build a befitting 'Igbogbo Ultra Modern Town Hall' for which we need the support you eminent personalities here present, " Dr. Ogunlaja said.

The Chief Host and Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, in his remarks congratulated the Igbogbo Monarch, IDEA and members of the Igbogbo Day Planning Committee,  for the successful celebration. He noted that the Igbogbo Day festival had become a global tourist attraction in showcasing the cooperation and collaborative tendencies of the rich Yoruba culture, saying it as become a unifying traditional festival.

The Chairman promised his administration’s support for the festival to sustain and promote culture and tourism in the Kingdom. “Our administration will continue to support this great festival as we are desirous of sustaining and promoting culture, tourism and the lessons of the positive development that would be engendered through our collective efforts. As an administration, we understand the fact that no meaningful development can occur without the collaborative efforts of all and sundry," he said.

Also speaking at the gathering, the Chairman house Committee on Defence a d member House of Representatives, Hon Babajimi Benson congratulated the King, Sons and daughters of Igbogbo on the 31st Igbogbo Day festival. He said HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali is a royal colossus who has remained consistently consistent in the progress  and development of Igbogbo Kingdom.

“The annual Igbogbo Day Festival is a rallying point for all Igbogbo indigene to pay homage to the Adeboruwa and collectively share thoughts on how to take Igbogboland to the next level of social and infrastructural development, JB said. 

Shortly after Asiwaju  Olorunfunmi Basorun, Hon Hon Nurudeen Saka-Sholaja, Mr Gbenga  Faniyi and Prof. Olusanya Micheal Ajetunmobi, expressed their enthusiasm over the successful celebration of this year's festival, HRM Oba AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, appreciated all and stated that he was impressed by this year's Igbogbo Day. He enjoined people at the helm of affairs to consider Igbogbo Community in the scheme of development. 

The King appealed passionately for the compensation of the demolished houses to be paid and bad roads across Igbogbo Community to be attended to. “We shall come back next year to give thanks for seeing another year. We shall continue to witness peace, progress and development in Ikorodu Division," he prayed.
