IKORODU DIVISION YOUTH INITIATIVE HOLDS EMPOWERMENT, ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP, CHARGES YOUTH OF IKORODU TO BE SELF RELIANT.
It was another day of reckoning on Saturday December 14, 2019, when the Ikorodu Division had youth
empowerment and entrepreneurship orientation for positive influence in
the community. This orientation was said to allow the artisans and beneficiaries of
the programme know and make right decision about what to do with the opportunity.
Former Leader of the House, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Azeez Olosugbo, in his address defined entrepreneur as someone who take risk and sees
opportunity. He mentioned an acronym 'SMART', which means specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound. He urge the artisans to be
specific on whatever they are doing, be measurable of the opportunities
available before moving into any profession and also to be time bound.
Also, Dr. Balogun Rotimi, the real estate investor, said in his remarks, "entrepreneur should be a problem solver which means
he/she should be able to solve an existing problem in the society. He added
that entrepreneur or business owners should be sincere to his/her patronisers, bring growth to business and help to achieve a set up goal between a short
period of time.
In the same vein, Mrs Abimbola Olugbegbon, said "entrepreneur is a lifetime hobby
which will earn you money than white coaler job. My advice to you is to be
mindful of your action and make use of this opportunity judiciously."
The Director General, iCARE Foundation of Hon Babajimi Adekoge Benson, Mayor Deen Sanwoola in his eloquent submission advised that "before you
could venture into a business, you must identify the opportunities by knowing
the skill you are good at already and can teach others. Look within your own
life for problems to solve, solve the problems that your family and friends are
having and customize a popular items."
He added that "opportunities don't turn to
business overnight, you have to make research to have full idea of the business
to venture into. it is very important to value your business to know if people
will buy it."
"Be presentable to your customer, let them get the impression that
you know what you are doing and you are capable of doing it well," he added.
After Justice were done to various questions, the programme was later engaged with the award section, where speakers were given an award of recognition. The Awardees
include Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Hon Balogun Rotimi, Comrade Azeez Jimoh Elesho.
