IKORODU MONARCH DISTRIBUTES RELIEF FOOD MATERIALS FOR VULNERABLE, OTHERS, AS COVID-19 LOCKDOWN ENTERS SECOND WEEK. ...Applauds Gov. Sanwo-Olu for his swift response to Pandemic.

Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, in his usual ways has extended his hands of love to his people in Ikorodu. The Monarch made relief materials available to his people in solidarity with them during this stay-at-home order by government in a bid to check the spread of COVID-19.

While speaking exclusively with MegaXpression Community News, the Monarch took his time to appreciate the Lagos State Governments, especially Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his swift response to the pandemic in terms of mass enlightenment, regular updates, creation of centres where people are being attended to, and provisions of palliative measures to cushion the effects of the lockdown order on our people.

The Monarch further counselled his subjects to be closed to their radio sets for better awareness and educative programmes and updates on the virus. He however urged them to take care of their environments, stay hygienic, wash their hands thoroughly every now and then, and observe social distancing. While also assuring them that the food stuff presented are third tranche of the palliatives coming from him and donated by various individuals.

Oba Shotobi, who isolated himself alongside his wife after returning from his yearly holiday in abroad, almost three weeks ago, went further to advise residents of Ikorodu Division to take their health seriously and not to do self-medication or use locally-made portions as such has not been medically proved to cure Coronavirus. He appealed to his Constituents to report cases of any suspected signs of unusual, unhealthy feelings or developments to the nearest public medical Centre around them.

According to the Monarch, "I want to appreciate the efforts and proactive measures of the Lagos State Government, on how we can be protected about the virus. So, I immediately wrote a letter out to cancel all activities that is associated with our usual and yearly traditional festival which is 'Odun-Osu', amongst others. We decided to move round the town with the traditional people of Ikorodu, as we performed all the needful things to appease to God in our native way that we call do".

The Monarch thanked the owner of DSTV who gave 1•2 billion naira to both the federal and State governments. "Along the line, people within the community have contributed to the provision of food items , likewise one of our children in the Diaspora, Otunba Adegorishen Steve Adewale Anifowoshe, Prince Adebowale Odutola Eniayewun Esumade and Otunba  Ganiu Olusegun Abiru. I really appreciate them and thank them for all the measures they have taken", he said.
