The members of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, led by its Chairman, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, was on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, at his Constituency Office in Ikorodu, Lagos, soliciting his efforts to influence and facilitate education enhancement in Lagos State.

In an event covered by MegaXpression Media, Alawiye-King revealed that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, who have been doing wonderfully well to the education sector, can not do it alone, he therefore insisted that soliciting for the influence of Senator Tokunbo Abiru through his colleagues at the upper chamber will facilitate inflastructural development to Lagos State, particularly in the area of education.

"The State government can not do it alone and we all know that education is about collaboration and building the relationship, so we seek solicition from the Senator on how he can bring a life changing programmes to Lagos State," the SUBEB Chairman said. 

In his eloquent response, the Distinguished Senator, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, commended the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, LASUBEB, for its positive impact on the state’s education sector.

The erudite Senator urged the Board members not to relent as their performances now would be a reference point for coming generations in Lagos State and Nigeria, noting that the Board remained very important because of the roles that the establishment would play in the lives of the school children.

"It is very rare privilege and honour for myself and my Advisory Team, in having the members of the body of SUBEB coming to visit and sharing their aspiration in terms of education enhancement with us, and interestingly, what we have found in our interaction with them is that, we see a board that is comprised of highly celibra team of dedicated and committed Lagosians who are actually championing the course of education in our dear State and we are very comfortable with the calibre of people who are championing this course," Abiru said. 

"The Board members are from the Executive end and equally looking for support from the legislative angle. However, I am already working in some areas to support, particularly in this Covid-19 period," the Senator assured while speaking with MegaXpression Media.

"The learning skills have enhance and most things are being done remotely and it also tells us that our teachers who are impacting knowledge must also rise up to the challenge of the changing time, so that innovation and technology will become thing that those who are impacting knowledge and learning must also embrace," Sen. Abiru added.

He further reiterated to make an impact by influencing decision makers in furthering the course of education development in Lagos State.
