IKODASS ORGANISES FIRST IKORODU OGA COCKTAIL NIGHT WITH BUSINESS EXECUTIVES, APPRECIATES CORPORATE VALUES. | Shakiru Seidu. "Ikorodu Division needs political power to do wonders," former Commissioner reveals.

Ikorodu Development Association, IKODASS, held its maiden edition of Ikorodu Oga Cocktail Night on friday, November 2, 2018 at Banquet Hall of Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The discussants, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, IKODASS Chairman, Engr. H.O.B Lawal, Chairman Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce, Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, Dr. Bawala, Engr Kunle Oduborisha, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Dr. Abiodun Abatan, Mr Bayo Oteju, Mrs Sherifat Onilere, Alhaja Folashade Usman and the Royal fathers, His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu and Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom noted networking, security upliftment, capacity building and good roads as some of the key issues Ikorodu Division needs to work on to grow its business environment.

MegaXpression Magazine gathered that the Cocktail was sincerely organized to do a critique of business environment in Ikorodu Division with a view to preferring solutions that will enhance economic prosperity of business organization without ignoring the welfare of the people of the host community.

The Chairman of IKODASS, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, said that the challenges confronting business organizations are surmountable. He took the issue of security as key to the progress of any business enterprise and therefore enjoined all to come up with a modality on how Ikorodu Division can come up with its own SECURITY ENDOWMENT FUND, which will be subscribed to by all business organizations in Ikorodu Division.

"This money would be used to assist Police and recognized vigilance bodies in the provisions of logistics and ancillary matters to facilitate the discharge of their functions." Abiru said.

He further urged all to take serious the issues of employment generation, human capital development through scholarship awards, maintenance and repairs of roads within the vicinity of organizations and also helping the Government in renovating Schools, contributions to the cultural development of Ikorodu Division through assistance to various bodies in the Division charged with that responsibility, waste disposal and a host of other things.

Abiru also drawn the attention of Royal Heads and businessmen to a monster consciously and unconsciously nurturing by the people of Ikorodu Division. "While we are happy about the rising profile of the mini port, the indiscriminate parking of articulated vehicles round the terminal thereby blocking the flow of traffic should be a major concern if we are to avert the replication of Apapa gridlock which may be deleterious to free flow of traffic and injurious the timeliness of business delivery." He explained.

The IKODASS Chairman, therefore charges the representatives of Lagos State Government, Council Chairmen in Ikorodu Division to remedying what must have been the major obstacles in the March towards economic prosperity and peaceful consistence in Ikorodu Division.

Also speaking at the maiden cocktail of Ikorodu Oga is Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, who assured that the government in power is working assiduously towards the betterment of its people and assured of doing more when re-elected. The erudite legislator stated that Ikorodu Division has the potentials to be rich and revealed that the APC Government is not leaving any stone unturned to improve the infrastructural development of the Division.

The Paramount ruler of Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi and His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, in their royal remarks noted that the IKODASS values the distinct nature of growth in business and their unique ability to influence, strengthen and elevate the business environment. They solicited for patrol van for the Police and enjoined the Council Chiefs to copartners in development activities.

Observations and solutions were further raised to enhance business activities in Ikorodu Division. In his closing remarks, former Commissioner for Information, Lagos State, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, insisted that Ikorodu had been seriously shortchanged in terms of positions sharing in Lagos State. "Ikorodu Division needs political power to do wonders", he said.
