Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry was recently sworn in Engr H.O.B. Lawal as President and other eighteen officers. The event which took place at Ikorodu Town Hall, received the presence of prominent personalities around the world. The Chamber which was incorporated in 2011, was said to aim at chatting a way forward towards addressing germane issues that could empower Ikorodu Division to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the private sector and the economy of Ikorodu Division, as well as that of Lagos State and the Nation in general.

While addressing the gathering, Engr. H.O.B. Lawal eloquently seek for people's support and assured all of quality service delivery. He said their mission is to represent, support and protect the interest of the business community in Ikorodu Division and liaise with Government and the Private Sector within and outside Nigeria with a view to promoting infrastructural development, attracting and increasing trade and industry, improve agriculture, conserve resources and stimulate public interests in the business of the chamber.

Engr Lawal further said, that his vision is to develop the Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to a first-class Business Organization, sharing ideas with sister Chambers locally and internationally and maximizing the advantages of synergy in trade and industrial networking.

"The Chamber is committed to representing all business stakeholders in Ikorodu Division and will encourage membership and representation regardless of race, political affiliation, religion or association.

"The Chamber is dedicated to forming positive relationship with and to work together with government and nongovernmental role players to overcome common challenges faced by the business community.

"Our objective is to build a strong organization that is heard at all levels of government and which has the financial clout to promote the common agenda of the business community. In particular, we would like to work together with government and nongovernmental outlets to address the following broad issues:

"Attracting business and development to our Division. Promoting individual and collective business interests of the business community. Accommodating new business/development/expansion. Promoting the construction of roads, refuse dumps and infrastructural to enhance effective economic enclave. Promoting cleanliness of the business environment. Affording the business community accessibility to elected and appointed government officers." He explained.

Engr Lawal further urged the progressive minded to join in the course of membership. "It is pertinent at this junction to enjoin all to join us in ICC. The experiences of membership are unique to each person and they are the root of each person’s individual desire to retain and advance their membership," he said.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
