BABAJIMI BENSON EMPOWERS ANOTHER SET OF 150 YOUTHS WITH AGRIBUSINESS SKILLS IN IKORODU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Says training is aimed at positioning youths to remain relevant in open market.
Chairman House Committee on Defence, who's representing Ikorodu federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, was on Friday, April 1, 2022, empowered another set of 150 youths in different skills, at the Nigerian Army Resettlement Centre, Oshodi, Lagos. Over 1,000 participants were said to have applied for the programme, but only 150 participants were shortlisted.
While addressing the participants, Rep. Benson felicitated with the graduands on the successful completion of the two weeks course, stating that they have achieved an important breakthrough in their quest to be fruitful and productive in support of national development, MegaXpression Media reports.
"Today's graduation ceremony is important to me as it's marks the third graduation ceremony on skill acquisition powered by the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in conjunction with the iCARE Foundation initiative.
"I am reasonably aware of the tight programme you were all subjected to during the course of your training. I am also aware that the tight schedule of your training was aimed at making you gain considerably within the short period earmarked for your training.
"I personally believe that graduation ceremony is a landmark in the life of every graduand as it marks the end of a formal training and skill acquisition phase and propels them into an opportunity phase where they seek to take advantage of their new knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world around them.
"You have successfully completed this course amidst tight schedules, this shows your commitment and resilience which are all attributes of your sound situational awareness in our dear country. You must think of a new way to tackle the problem of unemployment and lack of jobs caused by the devastating effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
"You must acquire the necessary entrepreneurial skills to live a self-sustaining life amidst the global economic challenges. Let me emphasize that the Skill Acquisition Training is to position you to remain relevant and stand competitive in the open market. I therefore urge you all to be bold, courageous, focus, financially disciplined and above all, beware of these criminals in all your business engagements," Benson remarked.
He further commended and thanked the Commandant for empowering those placed under his charge. "Indeed, there is no better way of discharging the Centre's Cooperate Social Responsibility than engaging our youths on a skill acquisition training in order to make them live a fulfilling life," Benson added.
Official of the Nigerian Army Resettlement Centre, while responding to MegaXpression Media, applauded Rep. Babajimi Benson, saying that the training of the youths in the Cantonment was a wise choice and promised to provide technical support and markets for their products.
Mainwhile, the Chairman, Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, in the same vein, why speaking with MegaXpression Media, congratulated the participants for the successful training, urging them to make use of the opportunity in the labour market.
Daini further commended Rep. Babajimi Benson, for his efforts in redefining and remodeling the life's of the youths of Ikorodu Division. "On behalf of my fellow youths, I want to sincerely thank my Boss, Rep. Babajimi Benson, for this uncommon gesture, we are happy and it'll definitely go a long way, the Chairman remarked.
The participants' Representative, in his remarks, equally thanked Hon. Babajimi Benson for the empowerment opportunity, promising to make use of the advantage given to them. Thereafter, the presentation of Certificates awards were done by members of the high table.
