TRIBUTE TO AN ICON, LATE ELDER (CHIEF) REUBEN ADENRELE OLOWU ON HIS POSTHUMOUS 77TH BIRTHDAY. By Shakiru Seidu.

Death no doubt is an inestimable end which must come when it will come. If it comes to a beloved one, the grief of all those affected as a result of the death can best be imagined, especially when it becomes very obvious that never again can such a fellow be seen or heard.

It was the same grief we fell into in MegaXpression Media, when my blood sister and political leader, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola called me on phone early morning on Friday, April 8, 2022, about the demise of a political giant in Ikorodu Division, particularly in Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA, Elder (Chief) Reuben Adenrele Olowu, at the age of 77 years.

This tribute is in honour of a man of many parts who throughout his sojourn on earth in the various places he worked, positions held and even after he retired meritoriously and engaged in private business and as a prominent Politician and community leader, Chief Olowu was never found wanting.

I had the singular opportunity of meeting and getting acquainted with the late Chief Adenrele Olowu about many years ago. In the cause of my interaction as a journalist with him in 2015, he guided me profoundly and urged me to be careful when writing anything pertaining to the history of Igbogbo Kingdom.

When I launched the first community media outlet in Igbogbo, called 'Igbogbo Info', in 2015, late Chief Olowu and late Otunba Adebowale Ogunade were both donated N300,000 for me to flourish. Also, in January 2021, when we had our 5th year anniversary, while some people were pledging Audio Money, late Chief Olowu, did same by donating handsomely. These and many he did will not be forgotten in MegaXpression Media. 

Chief Adenrele Olowu, a true purist, who can best be described as a true democrat, an unassuming technocrat and a man who in all respects, and by all standards has distinguished himself in several ways as a patriot, sacrificed all to assist in stabilising the APC structure in Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA, 

More so, a remarkable aspect of Chief Olowu is that he ensured that all his children were well brought up with sound education, while he also took time off to visit and play active role in community development. 

Today, 14th April 2022, supposed to be Chief Olowu's 77th Birthday, but he's no more, he is being interred into mother earth to join his ancestors, there is no doubt that he will surely be missed by many.

I urge all his children, grand children and in particular, the Adeboruwa-in-Council and United Africa Methodist Church Igbogbo to take heart in the fact that Chief Adenrele Olowu lived a good Christian life worthy of emulation.
