LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT ENGAGES 160 COMMUNITY MEDIA PRACTITIONERS IN A 2-DAY WORKSHOP. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Sheds light on Strategic Communication: A tool for Media Networking & Community Relations

The office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communities and Communications, Lagos State, Hon Sulaimon Omoyele Akeem, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, held a 2-day Workshop for Community Media Practitioners with the theme: Strategic Communication: A tool for Media Networking & Community Relations. The workshop, which was supported by His Excellency, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was held on Thursday 27th- Friday, 28th December, 2018, at Oriental Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos. The workshop which attracted a total of 160 Journalists from both print and electronic media, also had in attendance top government functionaries in the State. The thrust of the Workshop was said to build the capacities of the concern Media Practitioners for the development of communities across the State. The Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria held its first conference recently in Agura Hotel, Abuja. The conference lasted for three days. While addressing the gathering, Hon. Lawrence Onuchukwu, National Chairman of the Association, welcomed all the invited guests to the maiden conference. The lecture, based on the theme: “Prospects and Challenges of the local government in Nigeria,” was delivered by Dr. Abayomi Ogunowo, Lecturer, Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja. Kenneth Adejoh Michael, a Management Consultant, also delivered a paper on Understanding Legal Administrative Structures/The Role of Vice Chairmen of local government In Nigeria. The 'Ajede Luwasa' Day celebration on Saturday held amid fanfare and jubilation, at Alajede Palace premises, Ijede. The event witnessed the attendance of prominent Ijede sons and daughters, most of whom came from outside Ijede, legislators, political players, religious leaders, clubs and associations. The celebration also attracted a crowd which rendered the venue inadequate, as the attendees far outnumbered the seats provided for the occasion. Traditional rulers from within and outside Ijede kingdom also graced the occasion. IKORODU MONARCH HOSTS CHRISTMAS CAROL, ADVOCATES LOVE AND PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE AMONG RESIDENTS OF IKORODU DIVISION. | Shakiru Seidu.

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, yesterday advocated love and peaceful co-existence among all residents of Ikorodu Division, irrespective of their faith, saying it is important for progress and development of the Division. The King, who spoke at his Palace, venue of the 2018 Royal Christmas Carols, noted that it is the common bond of humanity such as common blood, common markets and other such bonds that binds all together as a people.
