Ikorodu Chamber of Commerce and Industry was recently sworn in Engr H.O.B. Lawal as President and other eighteen officers. The event which took place at Ikorodu Town Hall, received the presence of prominent personalities around the world. The Chamber which was incorporated in 2011, was said to aim at chatting a way forward towards addressing germane issues that could empower Ikorodu Division to continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the private sector and the economy of Ikorodu Division, as well as that of Lagos State and the Nation in general. Everyone unequivocally rejoiced as the 30th Igbogbo Day Anniversary came to an end on Saturday, November 24, 2018. Royal Heads, prominent personalities, philanthropists and people of works of life were in attendance to celebrate with His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and the entire people of Igbogbo land. The 30th Anniversary Ceremony started on the 16th of November, 2018 with a Press Conference. The Chairman, Central Working Committee for the Programme, Engr. As part of the 30th anniversary celebration of Igbogbo Day, Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, has again extended his magnanimity to the sub-committee on welfare of Igbogbo Day, by giving food items, tagged 'APO ANU' to 100 aged people in Igbogbo. The event which took place at Adeboruwa Palace, Igbogbo on Friday, saw laughter on the faces of the beneficiaries as they were showering prayers and encomium on Hon. Babajimi Benson and iCARE foundation. Speaking through one of the principal members of iCARE Team, Mr AbdulRasheed Aregbe, Hon Babajimi Benson, thanked the people of Igbogbo and enjoined them to celebrate a peaceful Igbogbo Day anniversary. The iCARE Foundation of Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, through the Bank of Industry (BoI) and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) was today launched 2days ‘Trader Moni’ in Ikorodu, a product through which traders could access loans of up to N10,000 at the first instance. Performing the official launch, the DG of iCARE Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwoola said to Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine that, bringing the traders’ mini programme to Ikorodu was part of Hon Babajimi Benson’s social intervention aimed at funding micro business in Ikorodu Division. Tuesday, 20st of November, 2018, will hardly be forgotten in the history of Igbogbo, when the Igbogbo Sports Stadium was full to capacity to celebrate the cultural day in continuation of this year's Igbogbo day celebration. The event kicked off with a stunning performance by the cultural groups from Schools in Igbogbo. While addressing the crowd, Odofin of Igbogbo, High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, welcomed and appreciated everyone's presence and revealed the importance of the day which is to display the town's cultural heritage. Some of the deities of the land and of course students from different primary and secondary schools in Igbogbo thrilled the audience with entertaining cultural display where Superior Private School came 1st followed by Goldline Private School and Lagos State Civil Service Model College, who came 2nd and 3rd respectively.
