AYANGBUREN OF IKORODU MARKS THREE YEARS ON THRONE, AS AMBODE COMMISSIONS NEW PALACE EXTENSION. | Shakiru Seidu. "The Palace Extension was borne out of the necessity to enhance the status of Ikorodu," Oba Shotobi says.

The Kingdom of Ikorodu has held the 3rd coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen V, Ayangburen of Ikorodu and the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Division. The colourful event which kicked off Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Ayangburen Palace, Ikorodu, was graced by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, lawmakers, Royal Heads, Philanthropists, Business Moguls and top government officials. The memorable event was anchored by the former Permanent Secretary, Lagos State, Mr Lekan Ogunbanwo.

The Monarch, Oba Shotobi, in his key note address commended residents and indigenes of the community for their support since his ascension to the throne of His forefathers.

Oba Shotobi promised to work for the exploration of the community’s unharnessed potentials and see that the community evolves into a great city in Lagos State. He revealed that the Palace Extension was borne out of the necessity to enhance the status of Ikorodu.

He said: “This event is a great opportunity for me to thank the Governor, who has brought notable infrastructural development to Ikorodu, in particular, and Lagos State, in general.”

In his eloquent remarks, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode commended the Ikorodu monarch, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, for his contributions towards stability and development in the community. MegaXpression magazine reports.

The Governor said the monarch contributed greatly during the era of Badoo attacks in the community by deploying appropriate strategies and working with the security agencies to stem the tide and he urged residents of the community to continue to support him.

Ambode, who was represented at the occasion by Mr Muslim Folami, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said: “His Royal Majesty is a good son of the soil; somebody like that, I am sure if the community supports him in return, he will continue with his fatherly role in ensuring peace and stability in Ikorodu.”

The anniversary which was glamour with different excitements was also attended by His Royal Majesties, Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, permanent Chairman, Lagos State Council of Obas and Chief, who was represented by Chief Opeluwa. Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Secretary, Lagos State Ijebu council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Kamarudeen Animashaun, Arolugbade of Elepe II, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, Aladeshoyin of Odo Noforija, Oba Rafiu Ishola Babatunde, Elejinrin of Ejinrin, Oba Ade Oriyomi Oyebo, Obateru of Egbin, Oba Rafiu Salami, Onibeju of Ibeju, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Tajudeen Elemoro, Onitedo Oke Odo Iwerekun, Oba Olumuyiwa Ogunbekun, Onilekki of Lekki, Oba Abdul Hafeez Badiru, Elejigbo of Langbasa, Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Ayodele Aliyu, Alade Uruka of Poka, Oba Ganiu Aderibigbe, Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, Oba Amusa Atiku, Onimedu of Orimedu, among others with some of the Oloris, led by Olori Precious Shotobi, Olori Sekinat and Rukayat Kasali.

Brown, Ms Oprah Winfrey, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Chief Olorunfunmi Basorun, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, Commissioner Adejare, Hon Wasiu Adeshina, Hon Banjo Adebisi Adeola, Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Chief Kazeem Ogbara, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru, religious leaders, Royal Houses, among others were in attendance.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
