SOB AGUNBIADE DISBURSES N20M INTEREST-FREE LOANS TO MARKET WOMEN, RELIGIOUS GROUPS, ARTISANS, OTHERS. | Shakiru Seidu. ..Reveals intention to re-contest, as Ikorodu Mornach, groups, endorse him for another term.
It was massive at Ikorodu Town Hall, as the hall was full to the brim with the presence of His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Aremu Shotonwa, Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, High Chiefs and league of Baales. Others were Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, APC East Senatorial Vice Chairman, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Agbaakin of Ikorodu, Chief Dele Olowu, Alhaji Taiwo Longe, APC Chairman, Alhaji R I Jinodu, Hon Ogunbela, Hon Azeez Olosugbo and other leaders of 'The Mandate Group'. CDAs Chairmen, Iya Olojas led by Alhaja Taofeekat Allinson, Party members, among others, when the Majority leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade disbursed N20 million to market women, religious groups, artisans and transporters and party faithfuls in Ikorodu Constituency 1.
Agunbiade distributed the seed-money to beneficiaries across the 17 wards in his constituency while giving account of his stewardship tagged, “Conviction for Greater Impact”.
The lawmaker said to MegaXpression Magazine that the intervention was to assist the beneficiaries to expand their capital base and develop their businesses. He commended the people for their loyalty and support as their representative and promised to do more if re-elected.
“This is about the last account of stewardship before the primaries and the general elections and that is why we have decided to improve on what we have been doing.
“This is the 8th edition of our empowerment programme for both men and women. Although we have been using banks but now with Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) in place, we have N20 million to disburse for empowerment through it,” he said.
Agunbiade listed his achievements as the annual youth empowerment and skill acquisition, sponsoring the property protection law to deal with the menace of land grabbers (Ajagungbales) and saving over 1000 houses from demolition at Lambo Lasunwon, Aribila and Parafa communities. Others are, facilitating the construction of many roads such as Awolowo road, Isawo-Arepo, Solomade place street.
Agunbiade also said he had given out interest-free loans to market women and men as well as the Community Development Associations. Accordingto the lawmaker, about 15 transformers have been given to some communities in the area.
The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, in his eloquent remarks commended Hon Agunbiade for effective representation and quality legislation and urged him to do more.
The monarch noted that the empowerment programmes had impacted the lives of people positively and urged beneficiaries to continue to use the money judiciously. “You can see that he has been following the footsteps of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode and I think he has done well,” he said.
The Mornach therefore raised Agunbiade's hand and endorsed him for another term in office. He enjoined all to give adequate support for the Lawmaker to retain the quality representation of Ikorodu Constituecy 1.
Mr Egbunike Isaac, one of the beneficiaries, while speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, commended the lawmaker for reaching out to other tribes irrespective of their religious persuasions. He further thanked the lawmaker for the financial assistance and promised that they would utilise the money to boost their businesses.
Out of the N20 million, N10 million was given out to the market women, while N5 million was doled out for equipment for artisans, N1 million each for the Igbo, Arewa, Muslim and Christian communities. 350 helmets we're shared among the Okada riders, 100 driving license were issued to the transporters, 23 public address systems to the 17 wards, 3 LGAs and 3 legislative Arms of Ikorodu Constituency 1 with legislative Wig. Agunbiade also assured the 3 CDCs in his Constituency of 3million naira intervention fund to aid community projects.
