FESTIVAL OF COLOURS AS AKINSOLA, DAINI, OTHERS, CELEBRATE OJUDE-OBA WITH ADEBORUWA OF IGBOGBO KINGDOM. | Shakiru Seidu.
It was amidst pomp and pageantry that the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, celebrated the 2018 edition of the annual Ojude-Oba festival, Thursday, August 23, 2018.
MegaXpression magazine learnt that the event which held at the Adeboruwa’s Palace, Igbogbo is an annual gathering of Muslim faithfuls and other dignitaries from across Igbogbo and its environs to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The event was put together by Igbogbo Muslims Community (IMCO), features Muslim leaders and groups taking turns to pay homage to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and it was made opened by the Chief Imam of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Sheik Dhikirulahi Andu Tanimose. The introduction of the guests followed suit by Imam Sheriff from Awobo, while several other performances took turn to keep the programme moving.
The Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, thanked all the Muslim Community and others that present, for the support giving to his administration. He seized the opportunity to assure the people of Igbogbo that the ongoing road project will be completed at the given period. He saluted the leadership quality of Governor Ambode and enjoined all to get their PVC in order to take part in the coming g general election in 2019.
Daini equally pleaded with the residents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA to ensure prompt payment of levies and taxes so as to enable the government to serve them better, while also promising the government of inclusion in the LCDA.
The 'Olu-Omo' of Igbogbo kingdom and former Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, in her eloquent remarks, rejoiced with the Muslim community and enjoined IMCO to include other groups and associations in the coming edition to make it more historic. "We are always the pacesetter in Ikorodu Division and we must use all avenue to create the standard," she said.
Hon Akinsola further enjoined all sons and daughters of Igbogbo to come together and build a befitting Palace for His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali. "Kabiyesi and the Chiefs should resolve in providing land for the community to commence the project," she urged.
The guest lecturer, Sheik Abdul Ganiyi Sulaimon Arowogbola, in his thoughtful provoking lecture urged all not to be self centred and eschew bankrupt of selfless service and generosity. "When you have been blessed by nature, you ought to give back to the society so that your influence will be long felt. As a leader, your success and achievements are not measured by the size of your wealth but the people you have influenced their lives positively," he said.
He further enjoined everyone to be involved in community capacity building so as to afford the people of Igbogbo Kingdom a safe haven, MegaXpression Magazine reports.
His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali was highly elated and enveloped with joy on how the Palace was filled to the brim for the celebration. He thanked the Muslim community, Chiefs and notable dignitaries that present and urged them to support the development of Igbogbo community in whatever capacity that accelerate its growth and prosperity.
The Monarch urged all to love, forgive one another, and maintain peaceful coexistence among his subjects. He seek for the involvement of all mosques in Igbogbo in the completion of Igbogbo Central Mosque.
The vote of thanks was made by Alhaji Ennis and later followed by the closing prayer which stirred indefinite celebration by the Islamic song and merriment.
