Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, was on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, graduated 4,000 students after acquired different skills. The Council Boss, Hon Banjo Adebisi Adeola, said to MegaXpression Magazine that the idea was borne out of his desire to reduce unemployment, eradicate poverty and develop the LCDA.
“The skill acquisition programme will make our people to be self-employed and self-reliant. Ikorodu North LCDA graduated four thousand beneficiaries of our 3weeks intensive life enhancement and professional skill acquisition programme.
"By implication, we have taught four thousand diligent people in Ikorodu North how to fish instead of giving them fish.
"This, I think suffices to make one happy. I am equally particularly happy because God has given me the grace to deliver on some of my electoral promises to the good people of ikorodu North and we shall not renege until everyone is happy by God's grace.
"Let me equally acknowledge the wonderful contribution of the coordinator of NEMAPP, Mr Ajetunmobi and his beautiful wife for their contribution to the development of our state. The wonderful exhibitions of hand made works I saw yesterday convinced me. May God continue to strengthen you. And to my Supervisor for WAPA, u have done a good job, Well done and God bless you.
"Hopefully by God's grace, Ikorodu North shall adopt this beautiful initiative as an annual event that would be well planned for, bigger and better in the coming years.
"I have advised and counselled our graduands. I pray may the good God continue to direct their steps to the right path so that they would make good use of that opportunity to better their lot so that Ikorodu North would be proud of a more independent and self sustaining residents in few years to come," Hon Banjo said.
