CHAIRMAN DAINI, CDC EXECUTIVES, OTHERS CHAMPION ADVOCACY AGAINST SEXUAL AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN IGBOGBO/BAYEKU LCDA. | Shakiru Seid. . . .Take awareness round the community.

The administration of Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini and Community Development Committee, CDC, Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA, was on Tuesday continued its community advocacy on Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) with the enlightenment of residents of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.

The Council Chairman, Builder Olusesan Daini, in his address at the event, averred that his administration remains unrelenting in its zero-tolerance stance against the SGBV and also committed to ensuring that culprits are made to face the full wrath of the Law. 

While informing the gathering that government is working towards the attainment of its mandate in line with the THEMES Plus agenda of the State Government, adding that the various forms of abuse which include physical, emotional and sexual are not to be taken with levity as perpetrators would be made to face justice. 

Daini, further called for broader awareness about the abuse faced by boys and men, stressing the importance of inclusivity in anti-violence initiatives. He urged both federal and state governments to consider similar programs for boys, recognizing that they too have untold stories of abuse

He commended the effort of Alhaji Lateef Akinborode, the Executive Director of Community Women Rights Foundation, local law enforcement agencies, and Adeboruwa-in-Council, for their dedication in addressing issues of abuse.

Also, the CDC Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Alhaji Rasak Ibiyeye, equally sensitised the people on the support services available which include empowerment, rescue operations, medical assistance, counselling and shelter, noting that SBGV is a collective responsibility and the essence of the initiative is to create a safe environment for everyone.

Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola, while speaking from personal experience, urged participants to be vigilant and to report signs of abuse, saying, “I was a victim of rape, and I don’t want anyone else to experience the trauma I endured. Speak out at the first sign of danger, you silent means consent, and the spiral danger is that you will empower the criminals to do more to others.”

Other CDC Executive in attendance are Alhaja Iyabode Salisu, Vice Chairman, Mr Yaya Ogunsowo, Secretary, Alhaji Adewale Gbadamosi, Treasurer, Mr Ayo Ajai , Assistant Secretary, Alhaja kadijat Ogbe, Social Secretary, Fatai Aremu fin. Sec., Muibat Adebanjo, ex-offocio, Mr Kabir Aluko ex-offocio, Mr Hamed Odebiyi ex-offocio, Saheed Ogunlana ex-offocio , Tope Badejo, ex-offocio and Olayinka Oyerinde, CDC Welfare.

Hon. Nureni Okedina-Maja, Barr. Ade Ayeni, Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, amongst other Council officials were equally in attendance.
