SENATOR TOKUNBO ABIRU DISTRIBUTES 1,200 BAGS OF FERTILISERS TO LAGOS EAST CONSTITUENTS. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Says it's aimed at complementing efforts of President Tinubu in ensuring food security.

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial district, Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru FCA, has distributed 1,200 fertilizers to farmers across the Sixteen Local Councils in the District.

The distribution took place at the Campaign office of Senator Abiru in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and witnessed the convergence of farmers from the Senatorial District.

Senator Abiru represented by one of his Aides, Mr Enitan Olukotun, while responding to MegaXpression Correspondence, said the fertilizer distribution was part of Senator Abiru's promises to ensure he enhance food production in Lagos East Senatorial District.

Adding that Senator Abiru has keyed himself in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of diversification from relying on Oil sector alone.

The Senator promised to give more adequate attention to the needs of the people of the Senatorial District in terms of dividends of democracy, reiterating that every age grades and genders in the Senatorial District will be given priority support.

In his remarks, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, disclosed that the initiative was meant to complement the efforts of the President Tinubu government’s Renewed Hope agenda on food security, stressing that the government was passionate about fighting hunger.

It will be recalled that prior to this time, Senator Abiru had facilitated agric initiatives and support to farmers in the district, like the distribution of farms inputs, including fertilizers, seedlings, and herbicides to over 300 crop farmers, and the provision of fully vaccinated chickens, feeds, and cages for over 100 livestock poultry farmers in the Senatorial District.

Dr Hakeem Adetugbobo, the Coordinator of Agric-related empowerment for Senator Abiru, also commended Senator Abiru for the laudable initiative.

 He said, “ We are fast moving into mechanised farming from subsistence farming. We should be thankful for the Senator for his efforts at ensuring that our farmers are well catered for. 

He further disclosed that the Senator had also set up farmers cooperatives in Lagos East Senatorial District, for easy access to funds for their business operations.

Alhaja Onifade Muslimot, one of the Beneficiaries from Igbogbo Bayeku LCDA, expressed gratitude to Senator Abiru, saying farmers can now be proud to identify themselves as farmers as a result of the support received from Senator Abiru. Mrs Blessing Nwaezawa and Mr Dauda Taiwo, who were also beneficiaries said the fertilizers will go a long way in boosting their farm yields.

Prominent community leaders, including leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ikorodu and stakeholders in the agriculture sector attended the distribution exercise. They include: Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Arc Taiwo Kara, Deaconess Wonu Osinowo, APC Lagos East Women Leader, Alhaji Jimoh Tijani, Hon. Princess Adebimpe Akinsola, Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo, Alhaji Shehu Usman Sampam,Alhaji Rilwan Ishola Jinadu, Alhaji Sulaimon  Musiliu, Bishop Olajide Odusoga and South West Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Otunba (Dr.) Femi Oke, represented Mrs Adeola Adewunmi- Malik, among others.
