Ikorodu General Hospital was on Monday, October 7, 2024, played host to the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Chairman House Committee on Defence, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR and other prominent individuals in Ikorodu Division, at the flag off of 40 bed Trauma Center in Ikorodu. The Center which was facilitated by Rep Babajimi Benson, was said to be completed in nine months.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the MD Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, said the Hospital has increased tremendously in terms of capacity efficiency, noting that this newly facilitated Trauma Center by Rep. Jimi Benson, will help victims of road crashes and emergency response services in Lagos State, and Ikorodu Division in particular. "Injuries are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in developing and developed countries," he opined.
Dr. Hassan thereafter thanked Rep. Babajimi Benson, for being consistent and making the dream of Ikorodu General Hospital, a reality, adding that Ikorodu Division will forever be grateful to him.
In his eloquent remarks, the erudite Lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson, thanked the residents of Ikorodu federal Constituency, for their unflinching supports towards him, assuring them that the new Trauma Center would be completed in no distance time.
The Lawmaker thanked the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for being there for him and the people of Ikorodu Division at any point on time, revealing that Dr. Hamzat's contributions during the Ikorodu/ Shagamu road, when he approached him, would always be appreciated.
Benson further commended the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his unprecedented infrastructural Projects in Ikorodu Division, urging the Governor to equally hasting the completion of Igbogbo/Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe Road, Isawo road, Gberigbe road and pay others that are yet to collect their compensations.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, applauded Rep. Babajimi Benson, for his quality representation as a Legislator. He said the Trauma Center, after completion, will change the narrative on trauma management in Lagos State and Ikorodu in particular, through this great initiative by Rep. Babajimi Benson.
"Today road traffic injuries are a leading cause of premature death and disability worldwide and in Nigeria, resulting in enormous physical, social, emotional, and economic implications on society. So, this 40 bed Trauma Center, after completion, will no doubt act promptly to these challenges," the Deputy Governor stated.
The programme, which was anchored by the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, also had in attendance, the former Deputy Governor and GAC Member, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Former SSG Lagos State and GAC Member, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem and Chairman Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba.
The Royal Fathers in attendance include, His Royal Majesties, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba (Barr.)
