AROYEWUN TASKS CITY BOY MOVEMENT ON BOOTH DELIVERY, SAYS 250,000 VOTES ACHIEVABLE IN IKORODU. …Urges Youth to Build Strong Grassroots Structure.

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has charged members of the City Boy Movement, Igbogbo/Bayeku Chapter, to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure effective delivery at their respective polling units ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aroyewun gave the charge while receiving the leadership and members of the City Boys Movement, Igbogbo/Bayeku Chapter, during a courtesy visit to his office.

Speaking on the political mobilisation efforts across the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, the Chairman maintained that the much-discussed target of 250,000 votes from Ikorodu is achievable with coordinated grassroots engagement, disciplined organisation and commitment by party stakeholders.

He urged the youth to work hard, set realistic voter targets and take ownership of their respective polling booths, stressing that political mobilisation must go beyond general declarations to measurable results at the grassroots.

According to him, the forthcoming release of relevant polling-unit data by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would provide an important basis for more systematic grassroots planning.  INEC currently provides official polling-unit information and voter services through its polling-unit directory.

Aroyewun disclosed that the council is also working on its campaign structure, assuring that performance and genuine contributions to the political process would be recognised and rewarded.

He further encouraged the youth to work with everyone, irrespective of religious or other social differences, emphasising the importance of inclusiveness, unity and broad-based mobilisation.

The Chairman also called on the City Boy Movement to be more committed, while urging them to also remain loyal and focused in their mobilisation efforts.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the youth to play a decisive role in grassroots political organisation and reiterated his expectation of a strong electoral performance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the forthcoming elections.

The Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kudus Oduntan, in his remarks, encouraged the youth to remain committed to the mobilisation drive and contribute meaningfully towards the actualisation of the 250,000-Vote target being projected for Ikorodu.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Shakiru Moritan Seidu (SMS), urged the City Boy Movement to combine enthusiasm with discipline, loyalty and sustained grassroots engagement.

SMS emphasised the importance of building genuine relationships with voters, maintaining effective communication at the polling-unit level and ensuring that the movement's activities translate into organised participation.

Earlier, the City Boy Movement Coordinator, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Chapter, Comrade Aliu Mubarak, commended Aroyewun for what he described as his unflinching support for the activities and growth of the City Boy Movement in the council area.

Mubarak assured the Chairman that the youth would continue to mobilise across the communities and work towards delivering on their electoral commitments in the forthcoming elections.

He disclosed that the chapter would hold a World Press Conference on Thursday, 1st October, where its specific voter mobilisation target would be formally unveiled to the public.

The engagement further underscored the growing emphasis on structured grassroots mobilisation as political stakeholders in Ikorodu prepare for the 2027 general elections, scheduled by INEC for January 16, 2027.
