Aiyegbami Football Club on Wednesday emerged winner of the Igbogbo Day's 2021 Adeboruwa Cup Competition by defeating Stadium Road FC in the final match at the 1,800 capacity Igbogbo Sports Stadium in Igbogbo, Lagos, in commemoration of this year's Igbogbo Day Celebrations. The Aiyegbami-based defeated the Agbele road-based 4 – 2 to lift the trophy.

Playing in front of hundreds of spectators, the two sides opened the encounter in a hurry to undo each other. They continued by throwing in everything to put the ball at the back of the net, only for the two teams' defense to stand solid at the back.

The two teams were became more desperate to savage the situation, but all efforts by the both sides to score in the first half proved abortive. The match later ended in 0 - 0 draw after the 90 minutes, before Aiyegbami FC defeated its counterpart, Stadium FC, by 4 - 2 on penalty to lift the Trophy, MegaXpression Media reports.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman, Sub-Committee on Sports, Igbogbo Day 2021, Mr Tolulope Faniyi said to MegaXpression correspondence, that the significance of the competition reflected in Igbogbo's social responsibility, toward the development of sports in Igbogbo and Ikorodu Division.

“As in every game, there is always a winner and a second best, and in this case, as you all witnessed, Aiyegbami FC has won the trophy, defeated the Stadium FC who have won it two times consecutively," the Chairman Sub-Committee on Sports noted.

Faniyi, however applauded the Chairman, Kosofe Local Government, Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe for his unflinching support and other great individuals, who have made the competition a memorable one.

Dignitaries at the final includes His Royal Majesties, Oba (Barr.) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba (Engr.) Sulaimon Adekunle Bamgbade, Olofin of Isheri Kingdom, High Chief Tajudeen Alade Onasanya, Odofin of Igbogbo and other members of Adeboruwa-in- Council, Chairman, 2021 Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, Mr Titilope Andu-Balogun and other members of the Committee, Representatives of Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA led by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nureni Maja-Okedina, amongst others.
