IKORODU RESIDENTS IN COLOURFUL ‘WORO’ PROCESSION, BEGINS 30TH IKORODU OGA DAY CELEBRATION IN STYLE. | Shakiru Seidu. ...As Rep. Babajimi Benson makes a surprised appearance, urges all to celebrate peacefully.

Woro procession, in commemoration of the 30th Ikorodu Oga Day Celebrations.

The annual Ikorodu-Oga Celebration has kicked-off, today Saturday, November 13, 2021, with the traditional ‘Woro’ procession on the ancient streets of Ikorodu, Lagos. The colourful ‘Aso Ebi’ (social fabric) wore by thousands of residents and carnival costumes for designated others, added colour and glamour to the procession.

The procession which was led by the Chairman of the Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, the immediate past Chairman, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru and other members of IKODASS, went round the major ancient streets and terminated at the Ayangbure Palace Ikorodu, where different Groups and Associations took their turns to pay homage to the traditional ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi.

Mainwhile, the most surprising aspect of the carnival was the unexpected presence of Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member House of Representatives and the Chairman, House Committee on Defence, who showed up at the carnival, despite not being invited. He was happily received by the large number of youths living within the 'Atewos', Ita-Elewa, Obun-Ale, Itun-nla, Ajina, Itunmaja, Ladega, amongst the rest.

While speaking with MegaXpression Media, Benson expressed delight over the 30th Ikorodu Oga Day Celebrations, urging all to celebrate peacefully and embrace peaceful coexistence. "This year's celebration would be awesome, I didn't expect less," he said.

The Lawmaker further commended His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo and other members of IKODASS for opening up Ikorodu Community to another social and economical value.

Other participated Groups/ Associations at the Woro Carnival were Hon. SOB Team, iCARE Family, ASA, Kori, Osugbos, Awo-Opa, Igunnuko, Turupu, Clubs, Artisans, amongst others.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family. During the meeting held at Osugbo Abalaye Shrine , where Lantan family were asked to pay fine of almost One million naira worth of sacrifice because of Mr Shakiru Sanni's misconduct, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali , emphasized that Shakiru Sanni's removal as Olumale Eluku was to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion and prestige of Igbogbo
