In the presence of a joyous gathering of residents and All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba on Monday gave account of her Stewardship in the last 100 days in office as Chairman, Ijede LCDA of Lagos State.
In a 25-minute speech, Motunrayo listed activities of her government, which she said, had yielded positive results since inception of her administration, noting that her Government has brought relief to the people of Ijede LCDA in key areas, thereby improving the well-being of people.
She equally said the effort to take Ijede to new heights in line with her campaign promises and manifesto of the APC remained on course, revealing that her administration had taken bold steps to build on the foundations laid by her predecessor.
"When we assumed office, driven by readiness to work and passion for service, we immediately hit the ground running through strategic visits, consultations, and prompt actions. This explains why we have been able to record a string of achievements within a short period.
"As a people-oriented administration, we hold a firm resolve to impact the lives of residents, both young and old. Admittedly, we have a number of challenges particularly in the areas of revenue base. However, we have been able to deliver on some of our promises," the Chairman explained.
She further stated: "In the area of education, which is the bedrock of societal development, we distributed educational materials to indigent pupils in primary and secondary schools. This, we believe, will relieve the burden on their parents/guardians.
"We hosted the preliminaries of the annual Spelling Bee Competition for secondary and primary schools as well as the Independence Day Children's Funfare to commemorate Nigeria at 61. We also facilitated the construction of additional classrooms at the Vocational Center situated at Igbe-Ogunro through our representative in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson.
"Also, we actively participated in all State-initiated programs like the LASEMA Public Awareness Day, World Food Day, among others.
"Knowing that infrastructure is key in every society. We facilitated the ongoing installation of street lights on Adetona Bello Street, Area'N'Police station through Hon. Babajimi Benson. As soon as the rainfall reduces, we intend to rehabilitate the Mayflower Road/ Falilat Ajoke Street.
"Our efforts in the health and environment sectors culminated in the creation of the End Malaria Project to combat the spread of malaria in infants and breastfeeding mothers.
"Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness. Following this mantra and the need to ensure a clean and healthy environment, we facilitated distilling of community drainage through the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, to combat the detrimental effects of flooding on our roads."
The vibrant Motunrayo, thereafter appealed to all residents to make more responsibility in the cleaning of their environment at all times, saying a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.
"To celebrate this auspicious day, we are giving food palliatives to 600 households tagged "Ijede Tunrayo Ayo Nitemi" food support program. This initiative will be done quarterly to ensure that we provide succour to our people particularly in these trying times.
"Also, plans are in motion for the year 2021 stakeholders meeting where residents are expected to highlight the needs of their respective communities for the council's intervention," the Chairman added.
She concluded her speech by appreciating the good people of Ijede LCDA for the support she had received so far. "I appeal for more concerted efforts geared towards building our LCDA. More importantly, let's substantiate our support by paying our rates and bills as revenue is the lifeblood of any government. It is our intention to continue to seek for partnership from well-meaning Nigerians to support us in taking Ijede LCDA to the next level," Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba concluded.

In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Alhaji Fatiu Salisu Jimoh, applauded the performance of Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba so far, urging people of Ijede to stop condemning people in political offices, but correct them instead and continue to pray for them.
In the same vein the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Social Register, Mrs Kemi Adedeji, assured of maximum support to Hon. Motunrayo, stating that their aim is to eradicate hunger among the people.
"We have registers of venerable households in the various local Governments. This has helped us to plan very well in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in a way that we are going to do alot of dissection on the register and able to know how many widow, single parent and people leaving with disability out their", Adedeji said.
Mainwhile, the former SSG and Member, Governor's Advisory Council, G.A.C, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, praised the Chairman, stating that she has proven that what a man can do, a woman can do better. "If you are in a political position, try to do something that will make your subject to always remember you for good, even after you leave the office. Make sure you impact the society positively because you are the leaders of tomorrow, and being a leader is not a day job, you have to start now," Basorun said.
Also, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Governor and Member, Governor's Advisory Council, G.A.C, commended the good work of the Chairman in the last hundred days in office, saying Ijede people has truly made a right choice.
Other notable personalities in attendance were the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, HRM Oba Abdul-Akeem Adeoriyomi Oluwasesan Oyebo, Regent of Ijede, High Chief Musediku Aliu, Evangelist Folorunso Falohun, APC Stewards, CDAs, religious leaders, amongst others.
