20th Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Group's lecture series, in honour of Professor Anthony Afolabi Adegbola, took place at the Ikorodu Town Hall, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, with the topic, “All Flesh is Grass: The Dimension of Non-Ruminant Feeding & Nutrition", delivered by Professor Adeniyi Agunbiade, P.hD, FNIAS, FNSAP, FCASN, RAS, Vice Chancellor, McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State. 

Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District and Chairman, House Committee on Industries, was the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sikiru O. Amure, (IDHRDB Secretary and a retired Director of Education) was the Director of Programmes for the day, while Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, Member of SUBEB Board anchored the proceedings.

The Memorial lecture of Prof. Adegbola has been a veritable platform where eminent scholars, policy makers, professionals and others assemble to discuss various critical issues facing social and economic development of the country. It was also being used to raise funds for the proposed Anthony Afolabi Adegbola Science Centre sitting within the premises of Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Main Campus, MegaXpression Media reports.

In his eloquent submission, Professor Adeniyi Agunbiade spoke extensively on the importance of agriculture in growing Nigeria's economy. He stated that the development of agriculture contributes to economic growth, poverty reduction, food security, reduce vulnerability and other socio-Economic goals. 

He advocated the need to produce animal food commodity cheaply through exploring unconventional feeding resources which are available, underexploited and inexpensive, noting that careal grains are generally employed as the principal source of dietary energy in Non-Ruminant Feeding and Nutrition.

In his earlier remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, encouraged all to invest in agriculture for sustainable development. He equally advised participants, especially students, to go into agricultural activities which he described as a profitable venture.

Abiru equally makes use of the opportunity to applaud the efficiency of Ikorodu Town Hall Management Team, saying he'll relate with the leadership on how to make the Hall more attractive and profitable.

Also, the Chairman Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board, IDHRDB, Emeritus Professor (Chief) Kunle Ade Wahab, OFR, OON, thanked the participants of this year's memorial lecture, enjoined all to donate generously to enable us pursue the objectives of the Board in the Board and the Professor A.A. Adegbola Science Centre, saying this will enhance the development of Youths in Ikorodu Division.

At the lecture, nine prominent Ikorodu sons and daughters were honoured with IDRDG Merit awards, among which are the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Adeoriyomi Oluwasesan Abdul-Akeem Oyebo (arpa), Professor Nimbe Adedipe, Professor of Agricultural Biology, Engr. (Professor) Patrick Nggody, Professor of food engineering and processing, OAU, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya SAN, Chairman Multi Choice Nigeria Ltd and Dr. Ola Adebogun, CEO of Caleb Group of Schools and visitor to Caleb University Imota.

Others are Mrs Bolanle Morounkola Esho, the best Principal in Ikorodu Division and 2nd best Principal in District II Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Mr Rasheed Abolanle Odenike, Best Teacher, Ikorodu Division, Master Sofile Charles Olamide, the best student in WASSCE 2020 in Ikorodu Division and Oriwu College Ikorodu was given Best School in Ikorodu Division.

Among those in attendance were the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali, HRM Oba (Dr.) Adeoriyomi Oluwasesan Abdul-Akeem Oyebo, House of Reps Members, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson, ably represented by Mr Kunle Olambiwonnu, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade and his amiable wife, Alhaja Tairat Agunbiade, Chairman Planning Committee, Alhaji Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, FCA, former Commissioner for Physical Planning, Barr. Rotimi Ogunleye, former HOS, Omo'ba Adesegun Ogunlewe, Professor Kabiru Olusegun Akinyemi of Lagos State University and Mr Adeleye Jokomba, Council Engr. Ikosi Ejirin.

Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
