33RD IGBOGBO DAY: PLANNING COMMITTEE ROLLS OUT SUPERLATIVE PROGRAMMES, SCHEDULED TO COMMENCE 19TH NOVEMBER. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Says it's geared towards actualising a befitting Town Hall for Igbogbo.

Igbogbo Day Planning Committee, has on Saturday, November 13, 2021, unveiled its programmes for the 33rd Edition of Igbogbo Day Celebrations. Addressing MegaXpression Media and other Newsmen at the Oba Fatola Pavilion, Igbogbo, the Planning Committee Chairman, Mr Titilope Andu-Balogun, explained the nine days superlative programmes and promising to be exciting.

The Committee Chairman reiterated that the Committee's objective is not only to organise the Igbogbo Day, but to continuing carrying out plans that will suit recent developments in Lagos State and the world.

He said this year's celebration will take the baton of continuity of progress, powered by technology and can be followed online via zoom, noting that the major events will be available to watch on mobile phones, and other devices online.

According to Nosiru Andu: "We will kick start this year's celebration with prayers (Iwure and Jumat Service) on 19th November 2021, in the morning till 2pm. Afterwards, Award of Excellence and Dinner will be held with His Royal Majesty (Oba) AbdulSemiu Orimadegun Kasali (Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom) in the evening by 5pm.

"Award of Excellence will accorded to indigenes of Igbogbo, and recognized dwellers of Lagos State in general. Igbogbo Carnival, Ram Fight Competition and Igbogbo Hall of Fame is affixed for Saturday 20th November/Sunday 21st November 2021.

"Last lap of presentations entails: final stage of Science, Exhibition, Igbogbopedia, Cultural Day, Health Day and Welfare Package Delivery to befitting elders in the town. The finals of the football competition will also be held during the week as well as Oloja Day, Youth Empowerment and Youth Gala and Beauty Pageant to round up activities.

"Friday 26th is slated for Tree Planting day after an enlightenment Seminar on benefits of Restoration of Green Infrastructure in Lagos State. While the grand finale will come up on 27th November 2021, at the Igbogbo Sports Stadium by 12pm, where a renowned Fuji musician will entertain guests and well wishers."

Questions were later entertained from the Gentle men of the Press with accurate responses by the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Mr Idris Adesina, saying this year's celebration is targeted towards having a befitting Town Hall in Igbogbo.

"This year's edition is  also aimed at unifying the people of Igbogbo, so as to encourage all in channeling their strength towards the upliftment of Igbogbo Kingdom," Adesina added.
