The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu was on Sunday, July 20, 2025, commissioned a new Aafin Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, pointing out that the commissioning of the Palace would have a positive impact on the community’s unity.
The Governor, who was ably represented by Hon. Kayode Robert, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, described the project as a significant milestone, achieved under the administration of Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, the Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/ Bayeku LCDA.
While addressing the gathering at the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu said that the Palace would further cement the existing bond of unity, love, harmony and brotherhood among the sons and daughters of Igbogboland in particular, and Lagos State in general.
"I commend Sesan Daini on this iconic 'Aafin' for the Adeboruwa royalty. In many ways, this iconic abode speaks unequivocally of the reverence and invaluable worth of Kabiyesi and the Adeboruwa royalty to the people of Igbogbo Kingdom", Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor further noted that the Palace is not just a physical structure but a sacred house of culture, a sanctuary of wisdom, and a rally point for the collective identity of the Igbogbo people.
He expressed appreciation to Daini for his vision, sensitivity, and commitment to culture and tradition, evident in the construction of the new Palace, stating that Daini has inscribed his name in the history of the kingdom and elevated the stool of the traditional ruler.
The Governor reiterated the State government’s commitment to the growth and development of traditional institutions and community development. He urged community members and traditional institutions to continue supporting the government in delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
He therefore congratulated HRM Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, on the commissioning of the palace and prayed that his reign would be long, peaceful, and prosperous. He also prayed that the Palace would be a house of justice, a beacon of hope, and a symbol of unity for generations to come.
In his eloquent address, the Chairman Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, thanked Almighty God who have made his dreams come to reality. While extending the gratitude to those who have made it possible for his administration in the past eight years in office as the Council Chairman.
Daini noted that the commissioning of the 'Aafin Adeboruwa' was a significant step in promoting art and culture. He emphasized that the Palace would serve as a tourist attraction, promoting the local economy and contributing to the community’s growth. While congratulating the Kabiyesi, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and the great people of Igbogbo Kingdom on this edifice.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Defence, representing Ikorodu federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson MHR, applauded Chairman Daini for the Palace construction, noting that the results of fuel subsidy removal have already been reflected positively on the local governance, citing the commissioning of a public health center in Ikosi-Isheri and other local governments, as an example.
The erudite Lawmaker further expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support and leadership role in Lagos State, particularly on the Bola Ahmed Tinubu/ Igbe road construction, which was said to be completed in three months.
Also, the DoingGood Senator, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Senator Tokunbo Abiru FCA, in his remarks described the Palace as a symbol of tradition, dignity, and community values that transcend mere bricks and mortar.
Abiru therefore commended Chairman Daini for building this legacy project, highlighting the power of collaboration between cultural institutions and visionary governance.
The Senator further extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and the people of the Kingdom, hoping the Palace would remain a source of pride, unity, and inspiration for generations to come.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of Members of Governance Advisory Council GAC in attendance, (former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe) Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun expressed delight on Daini's performance, noting that the new Aafin Adeboruwa will no doubt served as a unity purpose.
The 'Baba Aladura' congratulated the Kabiyesi, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Palace Chiefs and the entire Sons and Daughters of Igbogbo Kingdom. "I am the most happiest man today", he expressed delight.
Also, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC State Chairman, equally praised Daini for delivering on his promise to build the Palace within six months, describing it as a remarkable feat.
In the same vein, the Vice Chairman, Igbogbo Development Association IDEA, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, who spoke on behalf of the Association, also congratulated Kabiyesi, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, while commending Chairman Olusesan Daini, for delivering an iconic Palace for Igbogbo Kingdom.
In his royal remarks, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Sotobi, commended Daini for the wonderful project, describing Palace as outstanding. He congratulated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom on the commissioning of the Palace.
Also, the Oniru of Ireland, HRM Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, expressed delight in Daini’s achievement, noting that the edifice was not just surprising, given his track record of excellence. He congratulated the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom on this edifice.
Other high profile Monarchs from the South West Nigeria were equally hold the microphone to thank Builder Olusesan Daini and congratulate HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and the entire Sons and Daughters of Igbogbo Kingdom.
