AGUNBIADE, IREP, BRIEFED THE ROYAL FATHERS OF IKORODU DIVISION ON ASA AROKOLO, FIXED NOVEMBER 4TH FOR THE MAIDEN FIESTA. | Shakiru Seidu. Akinsola's passion and role on ASA has showcased her as true daughter of Ikorodu Division. -SOB. This is a manifestation of genuine oneness in Ikorodu Division. -Abiru.

It is proverbially said that, any child who discards Culture has hung a bag of affliction for himself. This was the comment rendered by one of the IREP members when speaking with MegaXpression Magazine on ASA.

It was an historical day on Friday, 29th of September, 2017, when the Majority Leader, at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, and IREP team, briefed the Royal heads, Regents and the traditional Chiefs in Ikorodu division on their level of preparedness on ASA.

ASA was said to be a beautiful socio-cultural heritage of decades which usually harmonize the people of Ikorodu Division in the good old days.

The gradual extinction of this 'ASA' has been salvaged by the dynamic Hon. Sanai Agunbiade in a bid to restore the emblem that unites the people of Ikorodu Division together.

The IREP, traditional leaders and others, met at the Palace of Ayangburen of Ikorodu where the four wall of the Hall was full to capacity. Hon SOB Agunbiade reported the progress of the research carried out on cultural value and also informed the leaders and sought permission for the ASA Carnival, unveiling of the ASA Statue and a Book launching on ASA.

Hon. Agunbiade said the briefing was also to thank the Royal Leaders for their immense support alongside with Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, who stood firm with the team to achieve success.

He recounted the beginning of the journey of Ikorodu Rebirth Foundation as a means to celebrate and further understand our value and Heritage. He stated some of the rich cultural landmarks in Ikorodu division and how Oba Kabir Shotobi and other Traditional heads in the region supported him in his quest to bring back the community's values and norms, also as a means to unite Ikorodu Division. He said the Ooni of Ife has also pledged his support and promised his presence on the fiesta day.

Otunba Ayodele Elesho, when addressing the audience said he's a lover of culture and expressed his appreciation to IREP for its efforts to preserve the culture of our division.

It is high time we started promoting our own values and norms. Asa is a pride to Ikorodu division and should not be taken lightly, Otunba Ganiu Abiru expressed this when addressing the Royal heads.

His Royal Majesties, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, Oba Ajibade Agoro, Oba Adeoriyomi Abdulakeem Oyebo and Oba Richard Ogunsanya, when addressing the gathering urged the people of Ikorodu division to learn how to appreciate and embrace our culture.

They unanimously said that religious beliefs do not hinder or stop us from promoting our cultural values. This made them to agree that community that does not preserve its culture is bound to fail. They further said that culture is quite different and does not in any way stop an individual from being religious. They however pledged their support to rebirth foundation in promoting and preserving cultural heritage.

HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, in the same vein congratulated Hon. Agunbiade for his selfless act in supporting and promoting Ikorodu's culture and enjoined members of IREP foundation and Onward Movement not to relent in their pursuit of cultural values.

The Royal Heads however approved the proposed 4th of November, 2017, as a day to celebrate ASA AROKOTO, while Saheed Osupa will be on ground to entertain the guests.

Mrs Adams Omowunmi who represented Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Otunba, Ayodele Elesho, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Otunba Ganiu Abiru, and the Vice Chairman, NURTW, Otunba Daisi, Owolabi Anifowose, among others were also in attendance.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
