THE YOUTH OF IKORODU DIVISION MOVES TO GUIDE AGAINST SOCIAL VICES. | Shakiru Seidu. Self Assessment, an imperative for career success. -Oluwatobi.
The Lagos State Government, Ministry of Youth and Social Development and Lagos State Youth Ambassadors (Ikorodu Division) hosted her maiden edition of the youth orientation programme, on Tuesday, 26th of September, 2017at the youth center Ita-Elewa. The event tagged "Revolution; Positive Ideology" was directed towards secondary school Students in Ikorodu Division.
Notable Speakers and other guests as well as students from different secondary Schools in Ikorodu were present. The program kicked up with an opening prayer by Afeez Akinyele, a student of Oriwu Senior Model College, followed by the National Anthem and a goodwill message from Lagos State Ministry of Youth and social development. The Lagos State Youth Ambassador, Mr Lana Promise, stated that the orientation is a means to curb social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, teen pregnancies and cyber fraud.
The Youth Ambassador from Ikorodu division, Maruf Agbaje who hosted the programme, recognized the presence of the Students and introduced the Speakers.
The first Speaker, Mr Agbaje Abass spoke on "The right Mentality". He stated his interest in youths and encouraged them to believe in themselves as this is the key to success. Second lecture was given by a representative of Nigerian Civil Defense Squad, Ikorodu, Officer Jacobs Odunayo who spoke about "National Youth Security". She cited the necessity of a secured environment for the youths and also enjoined them to assist the Police and other security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and persons.
The final lecture was on "Self Assessment; an imperative for career success" by Mr Jubril Oluwatobi who identified the youths as a vital part of every community. He shared his experience with the students and urged them to assess themselves in order to make the right career decision.
At the end of the lectures, members of the pannel Mrs Demisi Tayo Ladega, Mrs Adegoke Helen, Mrs Vicky Ojo Medubi, Mr Semiu Ibrahim and Mr Ope Kolade entertained questions from the students before the programme came to an end.
