The four memorable days, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of September, 2017, were fantastic when all sons and daughters of Egbin Royal Kingdom, an ancient town from  Ikorodu Division, gathered to celebrate the annual Ifowoorisa/Iwerisa, Igunwa and Igbela Odun Igba Irunmole festival.

The community which is said to be rich in cultural festivities that usually unite all Indigenes and residents of that ancient town. The festival is also used to foster peace, prosperity and well being of the people.

This year event includes the traditional initiation of the first Heir of the family (Aremo) and appeasing all the 201 indoor and outdoor deities and cultural display within the Palace and community.

According to HRM, Alaiyeluwa, Oba (Dr.) Adeoriyomi Oluwasesan Abdul-Akeem Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Royal Kingdom, when speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, says the Festival had been in existence for over 500 years at Egbin Royal Kingdom, in which the custodian of the neighboring Community will come to pay homage.

Egbin Royal Kingdom is a community dominated by the Ijebus from Ojusagbola in Ijebu-Ode.

One good thing about Egbin Royal Kingdom is that culture and traditions are taken at the high esteem. The 201 idols are adequately preserved to foster harmony, peace, and unity in the community and answer to the request of people, Obateru explained.

This also reflected in the celebration of Ifowoorisa/Iwerisa festival as it's usher in a good season for Egbin kingdom and its environ waterways. Apart from this year festival that was celebrated in a big way, appeasing the 201 indoor and outdoor deities in Egbin is usually celebrated yearly and is meant to promote peace, progress, wade off calamity and tragedy on the road and in water. It is also done to solve some other spiritual problems that may threaten the lives and the economy of Ikorodu Division, Obateru added.

It was an historic celebration when people of notable personalities celebrated with Kabiyesi, an unimaginable crowd were gathered at the Palace, while different idols were paraded.

No doubt that the current Obateru of Egbin Royal Kingdom, who was installed over seven years ago have made good history for himself for resuscitating the cultural heritage of Egbin Royal Kingdom.

Oba Oyebo therefore expressed his joy and happiness to those that made it happened. He thanked the Alagbo in Idewon of Ijebu-Ode, for making it a reality. In the same vein Kabiyesi applauded his Oloris, Chiefs and Members of traditional Heritage Committee.

He also said thank you to Kabiyesi Elegushi, Kusenla III, HRM Oba Saheed Ademola, Alhaji Alaba Lateef, Chief Isiaka, among the rest.
