IKODAS UNVEILED PLANS FOR 26TH IKORODU OGA DAY. | Shakiru Seidu. We're using the celebration to keep the heritage and traditions of our land. -Abiru

The Ikorodu Development Association, IKODAS,  on Wednesday, 20th of September, 2017, unveiled its programmes for the 26th Edition of Ikorodu Oga Day Celebration.

The Chairman of IKODAS, Otunba Ganiu Abiru revealed the One Week Programme  at a Press Conference held at Ikorodu Town Hall. He affirmed that the Association’s main goal is to make Ikorodu Oga Day compete with the likes of Ojude Oba Day in Ijebuode.

Abiru who recently took over the leadership of IKODAS, reiterated that the Association’s objective is not only to organise the Ikorodu Oga Day, but to carry out a total re-packaging and rebranding of Ikorodu to suit recent developments in Lagos State and the world.

The reasons for staging this yearly event was to keep the heritage and traditions of our land in line so as to avoid it being going into extinction, he explained. Abiru further assured that Ikorodu town will forever be proud to showcase its cultural heritage to the world just as it also advances it to meet with international standard.

Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, the PRO of IKODAS and also the Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Govt. in her eloquent address revealed that this year's edition is aimed at grooming the youth, so as to encourage them in channeling their strength towards the upliftment of Ikorodu division.

She promised this year’s celebration will include the 5 LCDAs in Ikorodu division. She therefore urged  Ikorodu indigenes both home and abroad to make it mother of all celebration.

The Celebration will commence on the 11th of November, to 18th of November, 2017.
