INDEPENDENCE MARATHON: OBA SHOTOBI UNVEILED 3RD EDITION IN IKORODU. | Shakiru Seidu. It's meant to encourage people to engage in physical fitness as a means of staying healthy. -Agunbiade

The Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, recorded another history on Saturday, 16th of September, 2017, when the King unveiled the third edition of Independence Marathon. An event named after the Monarch and sponsored by the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade.

When addressing the audience, the Majority Leader, thanked the Kabiyesi and the entire people of Ikorodu for their unflinching support over the years. The Marathon, which will hold on Sunday October 1, 2017, is meant to commemorate the Independence day as well as encourage people to engage in physical fitness as a means of staying healthy, he added.

The Chairman of the Committee, Pastor Bello Akeem, announced the official brand of the 2017 Edition and assured of hundreds of participants from over fifty public and private secondary schools across Ikorodu division.

In his eloquent address, Kabiyesi applauded the consistency of Hon Agunbiade since the beginning of the annual race. He described SOB as a reserved somebody with great passion for development.

Among those that witnessed the ceremony were the former Commissioner for Information, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Mr. Kabiru Agboola who representive of Justrite Stores Limited, Mr Kabiru Agboola, Mr Yakub Ajalogun, Abike Allison, among others.
