Is it really true that politics is a dirty game? Perhaps, the theory may be right to a certain extend in the mannerism the actors in the politics comport themselves. When there is high level of assassination of characters, propaganda meddled to discredit and malign a supposed enemy. The politics in Ikorodu Division is beginning to dive into a state of political acrimony and catastrophic in nature, as observed by MegaXpression Magazine.

On Sunday, 10th of September, 2017, at Regal Multipurpose Hall in Igbogbo, a mass of Social Media handle users gathered to synergize and contain the excesses of the users. The was the initiative of the former Clerk of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Otunba Ganiu Abiru and one of the highly respected LASU Lecturers, Dr. Fatai Abiodun Abatan (Baresi).

Otunba Abiru pleaded for JB and SOB to remain indivisible friends as the saying goes that there is no permanent friends and permanent enemy in politics. He urged the users of various Whatsapp group to be civil and modest to ascertain decorum, while enjoying all to be committed to issue base scenario that will enhance development in the Division.

Dr. Fatai Abiodun Abatan in his eloquent address urged the participants not to compromise the good mission of Ikorodu division while encouraging all to utilize the advantage of Social Media for meaningful development. He equally affirmed the positive result of social media as it availed Ikorodu Division Boat Regatta. He sues for peaceful co-existence in Ikorodu division in the best interest of the posterity.

Another participant, Mr Segun Iluyombo remarks that the fear of unknown and lack of understanding among the followers necessitated rancor and fracas public office holders in Ikorodu Division. In the same vein, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba urged for maximum cooperation.

The former NBA Chairman, Ikorodu Chapter, Barr. SOK Owosile called for logical thought by the progressives. He said other Divisions are actively involved in governance unlike Ikorodu division. Epe Division has produced Governor, Senator, Speaker for 10years and occupied other high rank offices in Lagos State. He therefore implored everyone to deploy their whole energy towards the development of Ikorodu Division.

In the cause of the meeting, there were reactions from different angles, Mr Shakiru Seidu, Kunle Adelabu, Aregbe Rasheed, Abike Allison, Alejo Musbaudeen, Aderoju Ladega, Azeez Olosugbo and other media Journalists affirmed that the political office holders are not directly linked to the lingering crisis but their followers. Also, they emphasized the the Group Administrators should maintain orderliness in all the Platforms.

In the final remarks, Abiru positively responded to all the questions asked and did justice to all while urging everyone to put the interest of Ikorodu Division at heart.

  1. We Ikorodu people seem to know too much - reason why it will take time to produce Governors, Speakers etc. Epe plays the political game better. We are also greedy and lacks mutual respect. Check it out - Ambode goes to Epe almost every weekend. A typical Ikorodu politician would have relocated. We have a lot of them around... Followers too are blind and are not critical of who they follow. Am certain things will get better with time. To Megaexpression....good job guyz.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
