IGBOGBO COMMUNITY AND THE ANXIETY OF NEW BANK, AS THE UBA SETS TO COMMENCE OPERATION. | Shakiru Seidu.

Igbogbo Community historically has been in existence for over five hundred years. Why is the Community remained stagnant with no tangible Bank for many years despite the kinds of prominent personalities that have emerged from the town, endowed with numerous potentials.

It is in record that Igbogbo had been struggling for years to have a commercial Bank. Several years back, the only surviving Bank in Igbogbo, Savannah Bank of Nigeria, nosedived permanently which necessitated the emergence of Daily (Esusu) contribution.

The efforts of Dr. Akinola Ogunlewe, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Sen. Adeseye Ognlewe, Alhaji Mustapha Kalejaiye, and many others were suddenly truncated when the Community Bank of Igbogbo, which was meant to alleviate the suffering of the people, became bankrupt by some enemies of Igbogbo community.

Almost a decade now, the existence of Network Microfinance Bank, owned by Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe to stop the pains of going to Ikorodu before collecting money and also created employment opportunities to most indigenes of Igbogbo, witnessed demeaning criticism such that some elements in the community found it unworthy to patronize.  This has no doubt turned Igbogbo to a community with high number of Pagas.

However, the hard work of some people, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, High Chief Tajudeen Onasanya, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola and the rest of others, seems to be making sense as UBA is set to kick off Operation in Igbogbo community.

The first ever Branch is established within the Council Secretariat Igbogbo, is set to kick off on Friday 22nd of September, 2017, while the Sterling Bank PLC is warming up at opposite Council Secretariat.

The residents of Igbogbo Kingdom are anticipatory of the Roads proposed project with the aspiration that it will exposed the Community to rapid economic development.
