IGBOGBO DAY 2017: PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETS AKINSOLA. | Shakiru Seidu. Don't submit yourself to distractions, Akinsola warned the Planning Committee.

The Planning Committee of this year's Igbogbo Day celebration, on Saturday, 9th of September 2017, visited the Special Adviser and Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Lagos State, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola to synergize on smooth collaboration.

The Committee which was led by their Chairman, Engr. Femi Kalejaiye, appealed for smooth collaboration and the support of Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, towards this year's Igbogbo Day Anniversary, which is aimed at building an Ultra Modern Town Hall. In the same vein, the Committee Secretary, Mr Sonubi Francis lauded the quality leadership of the Hon Commissioner. He lobbied for her influence to be reflected in this year's Igbogbo day celebration.

After these submissions, the Oluomo of Igbogbo Kingdom, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, eloquently responded to their pleas. "Igbogbo Day cannot be separated from Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA), while we must ignore any act of selfishness in moving Igbogbo forward", Akinsola pleaded. She expressed displeasure on the same set of people governing the IDEA after so many years. "We must be conducting election in every two years to inject fresh brains and ideas" she added.

Akinsola therefore urged the Planning Committee not to reach out to those in government alone and to involve Groups and Associations in Igbogbo, First Club ,Elite Brothers Klub, and the rest of others. She implored HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and his Chiefs to find a secured land for the Town Hall, instead of putting all hope on controversial land.

The Secretary unveiled the One-Week loaded programme which was said to start from 18th of November to 26th of November, 2017. He also affirmed that it would be double celebration with the Coronation Anniversary of Oba Kasali.

The meeting which was also witnessed by the Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, ended with a closing prayer rendered by the Committee Vice Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Oshin.
