Monday, 6th of November 2017, will be a remarkable day in the history of Ijede LCDA and a period which will not be forgotten so soon.

The Chairman sworn in the SLG and those who will form his formidable team of progressives that will advance the course of development of the LCDA. The lists include Mr Olakunle Olanbiwoninu as SLG, Mr Ajayi Abiodun as Supervisor for Works, Chief Ganiu Bello as Supervisor for Education, Mrs Falilat Kuye as WAPA, Mrs Kehinde Fesomu as Supervisor for Agric, Social development and Chieftaincy, Mr Gbolahan Quadri as Supervisor for Youth and Sports, while the Vice Chairman, Motunrayo Gbadebo will handle Environment and Health.

The Chairman, Comrade Fatiu Salisu assured that he will not condone indolence, while admonishing the Exco to imbibe team spirit so as to jointly build the Ijede LCDA. It was a day filled with numerous activities.

Shortly after the swearing-in-process, the atmosphere was permeated with rally which brought out all and sundry round the city of Ijede. It was in this process that repentant Cultists revealed their interest of relinquishing cultism. At the Alajede Palace, the Chairman seized the opportunity to inform the general public of the zeal and determination of the youths of the community to completely jettison cultism. He added that the repentant youths confided in him to desist from violence and any form of thuggery and hooliganism.

The Regent of Ijede, Chief Musediku therefore urged Chief Ademuyiwa Jamiu (Odofin of Ijede) to pray for the council and Ijede LCDA at large.

In the same spirit of celebration of success, the convoy of the Chairman and the good people of Ijede advanced to the Palace of Obateru of Egbin where the Royal father applauded the Chairman for his laudable works within his short time in office.

The Kabiyesi, HRM Oba (Dr.) Abdulakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo enjoined the youths to keep to their words to refrain from cultism. He further affirmed that the 7years tussle between Ijede and Egbin has been laid to rest. He therefore sued for peaceful coexistence and charity among the two communities.

The passion for change within the Chairman equally led all to the 'Etita Square' of Ijede to commission a borehole for the benefit of the good people of the community, followed by the laying of blocks for the modern offices, by Obateru of Egbin Kingdom.

The august occasion was rounded off at the Council Secretariat where the four walls of the big Canopy was full to capacity.

The Chief Imam of Ijede made the opening prayer. Comr. Fatiu Salisu was awarded the best Chairman in Lagos State to affirm his zeal towards transforming Ijede LCDA.

The repentant Cultists surrendered all the ammunitions in their possession to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Edgar Imohimi in the Presence of Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR and Hon Nurudeen Sholaja, to affirm their commitment in renouncing cultism and everything attached to it.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgar Imohimi in company of several DPOs gladly received their surrendered ammunitions and promised to facilitate laudable vocational training and empowerment schemes that will rehabilitate them before they are reintegrated into the society. He was so affirmative that history has been made in Ijede LCDA with the development and urged other communities to emulate such.

'Without gain saying, Ijede LCDA is set to experience the unimaginable transformation in no time.' This was stated by no other person than Hon. Babajimi Benson (MHR), who affirmed that he is committed to do everything possible to fast track the development of the LCDA, when speaking with MegaXpression Magazine.

The Honourable equally promised that he will be committed to every developmental project in the LCDA, while enjoining the youths of the community to be proactive and resourceful in order to rewrite their own history. JB further urged the repentant youths  to make their word their bond and should not return to cult related activities.

The repentant cultists affirmed their decision and determination never to return to it. This was stated through the heads of various fraternity (KK, Eiye, Aiye, etc). When one of our correspondents quizzed them on what led them into cultism, they affirmed that land boundary issues turned them to menace in the society with the use of various weapons they were equipped with by their sponsors. They therefore pledged never to return to their horrible lifestyle.
